Suggestions to actually clean a cartridge. About to start up pool next week or two.... They are about 10yrs old and still in great physical shape. Just brown; :) I have always just rinsed off. I tried a tote and pleatco filter wash tabs 2 yrs back. Didn't seem to do anything. Suggestions...

The deck jets will be on the same side of pool about 4-5' apart. So i think ill run one line from pad to the deck jets, and just loop those? - - - Updated - - - also if I instead ran each return on it's on line stick with 2" or 1.5" plenty at that point...

yeah i pretty much was thinking along your line... each skimmer on own line and drains tied together... When you say put three returns on a loop.... do you basically mean one line and T off to each return as I go around pool. do you lose flow to last one?

so 18 * 38 L. plan to have 2 skims, pair of drains, then 3 returns and 3 deck jets... is it better to run everything on it's own line.... Like: returns on there own 1.5" each (3 runs), deck jets on a 2" main feed then T into 1" for each (1 main run then 3 small runs) drains tied together...

Puled the trigger on the Polaris 9550. same price as dx6, but i like the controller, caddy, and top cleaning cartridge better than bottom mount bag. We will see how it performs next week!

These all look about the same and seem to have abot the same features. Do they all clean about the same? For the price the kreepy krauly seems to be about $200 cheaper and filters finer down to 5 microns, works on floor, walls (steps& waterliene I think), its has a programable clean cycle if...

Yeah I would not just leave it sit in there. It will ruin the pump if it freezes I just wait for a nice day when the water is not frozen toss in the pump and start the siphon. Then when done pull the pump.

Ok, sounds good. I used the expansion ones in past as well as the threaded plugs. Anything on the threads like teflon tape to keep them from getting stuck come spring?

the return lines will still be under water level. Should i get the standard white threaded plug with o ring OR the cone shapped rubber expandable style plug? Thanks,

Re: Adding salt/ borates to soften water feel in a chlorine UPDATE: I added the Boric Acid about 2 weeks back now. Used just about 50# of the 55# pail. Levels seem to be about 50+ppm. I don't notice a huge benefit silky feeling wise, but water does seem to sparkle a little more and a tad...

Re: Adding salt/ borates to soften water feel in a chlorine Boric acid will be here today. Gonna start with just boric acid and see if it accomplishes that feel. Plus it should have added benefits as well. If I don't acheive what I am aiming for in fell I will possibly add some salt and see.

so whats the reports of users and salt around pools? and negative effects of the salt? The corrosivness of salt still concerns me but I want to add it at a lower concentration 1000-2000ppm for that feel! I don't have a lot going around pool that is metal, but galvanized panels and aluminum...

Ok, so I am a reef keeper and a pool owner.... Just thinking here.... My reef aquarium salt level is 1.026 density which is the same as 35ppt.....Typical avg ocean reef environment.. 35ppt is the same as 35,000ppm.... In a salt pool the aim is about 3500ppm.....So the concentration is 1/10...

Re: Adding salt/ borates to soften water feel in a chlorine Question for the salt side.... If I add salt at say 1500ppm, I have aluminum cups for my stair rails. I didn't go with bronze. Will this be an issue. Should I skip salt and just do borates or is this lesser amount safe?
