    Pool Service in Chandler, AZ

We built our pool around 10 years ago and I've taken care of it myself that entire time. I found TFP early on and have been using the principles I learned here to take care of it. The pool always looks great, and I've never added anything more to my pool other than salt, CYA, and muriatic acid...

    Pool Service in Chandler, AZ

Yeah, that's what I'm trying to avoid, lowering my standards, lol! Since there's been a lack of responses here, I'll post this in the public forums to see if I get any responses there.

    Pool Service in Chandler, AZ

Hey all, first time supporter, long time lurker and reader! TFP has been very helpful and I decided it was time to give back for all that I learned here over the years. We built our pool around 10 years ago and I've taken care of it myself that entire time. I found TFP early on and have been...

    Hayward OmniLogic R4.0.0 MSP Released!

I just got the message as well and went outside and upgraded. It upgraded the MSP from 4.0.1 to 4.1.0. No notes on Hayward's supports site listing release notes or any existence of an update. The notification (and email alarm) both were cleared automatically once the update was finished.

Unable to log into Hayward omnilogic "The transaction log for database 'NextGen' is full."

I haven't looked into it much, but there does appear to be an API that other automation systems use. I'm not sure if they are connecting directly to the OmniLogic or going through Hayward's cloud servers. For instance, this one at Hayward Omnilogic - Bindings uses Hayward's cloud service. And...

Unable to log into Hayward omnilogic "The transaction log for database 'NextGen' is full."

This is a problem on Hayward's end. I'm having the same issues and it started this morning. It's pretty embarrassing for them to have an error displayed on their login screen that basically means they are running out of storage space. Total IT infrastructure support failure - this should never...

    OMNI PL and Valve Actuators

I just upgraded my 8 year old ProLogic 8 system to the OmniPL yesterday for similar reasons. I paid $2450 installed ($1800 for the system, $650 for install). My ProLogic system died last week and I got tired of replacing boards or whatever else was needed. Plus, the aquapod remote was slow and...

New OmniPL Install - Some Questions

Just an update on the first item - my lights are set up correctly now. I went back into the body of water settings for pool and spa and added a new standalone light, but this time "Other" was a type that I could select. I'm not sure if choosing a color LED on initial setup makes it where you...

New OmniPL Install - Some Questions

I just had my ProLogic 8 system upgraded to the new OmniPL system. Really happy with the system so far (the new panel is huge) but have a few setup questions. The firmware for everything is up to date and I've reviewed both the installation manual and operation manual with no success. I have...

Questions on pump size with DE filter and backwashing

I'll be installing a new Hayward Tristar VS950 to replace a dead Ecostar 3400VSP and in doing some research came across some things I hadn't seen before. I've read that you need to match your filter size to your pump size so that you don't overpower the filter. My pool builder designed my...

    Hayward SP3400VSP stall warning

Mine just died with this same error last week after about 4.5 years of use. It was actually a replacement under warranty after the original died after 2.5 years. I was looking at Amazon and found the motor drive unit for $489 + tax. Then I called my pool builder just to see what they said and...

    Options for Lowering Calcium Hardness

I've got a question on options for lowering calcium hardness in my pool. We are located in Chandler, AZ which has extremely hard water (20 grains of hardness). We have a water softener on the house which provides nice soft water for showers, dishes, etc. Then we go swim in our pool and feel the...

    Possible ways to lose CYA?

It was $28 a bottle at Ace hardware, and I had $17 in coupons, so it came out to about $23 a bottle. Much easier to add and worth it for me. Pool math says adding 3 gallons will add CYA of 69. I was basically at 0, so it should get me to where I want. I'll be testing tomorrow once it's had some...

    Possible ways to lose CYA?

I'm using liquid conditioner - 3 bottles is what it takes for my pool.

    Possible ways to lose CYA?

Thank you jblizzle! I didn't realize CYA would break down from intense heat and sun. We get a lot of that here in AZ, as you know! I was under the impression the only way to lose CYA was splash out, so knowing that there are other ways makes me realize I need to test it more often even if we...

    Possible ways to lose CYA?

I understand that the normal way for CYA to drop is by splash out, backwashing, etc. However, my CYA went from around 70, to pretty much zero in the last few months with very little swimming. I don't have any pool leaks that I can detect (i.e. no standing water, salt level rising and not...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

One option is to get a programmable outlet or timer and set the robot to the Automation mode. Then you can set any schedule you want. See here: Even better, if you have ZWave/Smartthings or some other type of wireless automation at home you can get an outlet or plug that's compatible with that...

Prologic "Check system no cell power 2" error

Thanks for the tip. My salt is a little high right now so I'll need to dump some water. I'm not sure what keeps making my salt levels go up. I'll start out around 3000, but then over time it creeps up to what is now, around 3500+. I don't know what's increasing the level. I must have some salt...

Prologic "Check system no cell power 2" error

So I just installed a new board today and everything is up and running again. My neighbor/friend has his own pool service business and got me the board for $555 (including tax). It was basically the same price on Amazon with tax so I figured it would be better to go local in case there were...

Prologic "Check system no cell power 2" error

Thanks all for your replies. I'll take a look at the board but I'm thinking it may just be easier to get a new one instead of soldering, etc. Based on this being a known issue and the burning smell I suspect it's not the fuse and just needs a new board.

Prologic "Check system no cell power 2" error

Thanks, good catch as this is a pro logic so that board won't work. Looks like I need this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B004VU9GOG/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_.rVGCbVSNF181

Prologic "Check system no cell power 2" error

I have a Hayward Prologic 8 control panel with the salt system. I just started getting an error in the last few days of "Check System No Cell Power 2". When I opened the panel there was a faint electrical burning smell. In doing some research I'm not sure if this means I need a whole new PCB...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

I have had my pool for about 5 years now and most of that time was using a manual pool vac. Last year I got a Zodiac MX6 suction cleaner. I just bought a Dolphin Active 20 and received it last week, so I don't have a long history with it, but I'll give you my thoughts. First, a little...

    Doheny's Discovery, S200, Active20, Triton owners club

Question for the brain trust here. How important is the water temperature when running the robot? The owner's manual says to run up to 93 degrees for the water temp. I am running mine this afternoon and my water temp is around 95. Is that going to be a problem?

Thanks guys. Let me clarify that the "custom base" will really only be a couple of 2x4s cut to size with connecting strip of wood between them. Nothing fancy, just something to let it sit off the ground. I also thought about seeing if I can find a used/broken caddy and just use the base, taking...

So I just got my A20 from Marina today and wanted to post my thoughts and observations. Wow, this thing is bigger than I expected. Being around suction cleaners for so long, you kind of get used to that size of cleaner. Even seeing pictures online still didn't make me appreciate the size of...

If you order the S200 or Active 20 from Marina pools, they will swap out the filters for the one in the 300i/30i for no charge. It uses the pleated filter, but then you slide a "course" mesh filter sleeve inside that catches the larger debris before it gets to the pleated filters. I have mine...
