You're in New Jersey? If you are getting lots of rain like we are, that will dilute your CYA. And, my experience is, rain brings in algae spores, airborne dust and pollens.

I have a huge pail of TRICHLOR tabs. I find that 1-2 weeks running pump with chlorinator gets the CYA up where i want it. And I don't have to go to the hassle of dissolving CYA etc. I just don't understand why my chlorine levels have stayed so optimal for almost a week with almost minimal loss...
