UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

I'm not touching the circuit in that control box, and never touched anything but the the 12V light receptacle and its in-deck j-box with a meter, knowing the risk in those locations was only low-voltage. And we know it's 12V for multiple and sufficient reasons (the transformers' markings, the...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

"You had a hot wire in the box that you thought was off." No, with the 240 CB off, everything I would engage with is off while putting the light back in, also with CB "Lite" off. I had no inclination to go into that particular "box" (this is specifically the box in the annotated photo, but...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

"How do you know that is the breaker for the pool light? You thought it was the 240V breaker which it was not." We know what it is that every single other breaker does, and they all are working, shutting off what they control, when flipped. So the answer is deduction. The pool equipment, we...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

    1. Let's be much clearer. When you refer to "the switch," do you mean this panel with black toggle switches? If so, then, as mentioned, all those switches do in fact control what they are labeled as, and are designated to control. No, they are absolutely not mislabeled. 2. I don't see a reason...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

"That pool wiring was unsafe and you did not know that. You cannot go back from knowing it is unsafe. This is sometimes the result of starting a project and opening up a can of worms you did not know were there." Logical, of course. But are you here referring to all of the pool wiring in...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

By flipping it to the spa position. That's not the question. The switch for pool—spa water flow has SPA labeled on it twice - do you see? Once above it in larger font, and then once to the left of it for the up-toggle position in smaller font, then pool in the down position. To select water...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

We have AUX1 and AUX2. The AUX 1 toggle switch activates the blower, physically confirmed by seeing the blower (spa jets) work. So why is it that we do not assume that the AUX2 switch (labeled light) is tied to the only other available option: non-working light? I fail to see. All these...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

RE: "very logical" - Under one toggle switch designated solely as SPA, it has two positions (Spa & Pool). Why is that whole switch called SPA then? Do you follow? Since it does not deal solely or in any conceivable way mainly with SPA - why term the overall switch SPA? Saying this is very...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Fixture won't easily fit back into its space. Reassembled fixture with a thin coat of silicone around the (2-year-old) o-ring to further help seal. Major struggle - and still unsuccessful - to pack fixture and its thick cord back into the niche. The niche hardly has any bottom lip to clip the...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Can't we reliably enough deduce that the CB labeled Lite is indeed for the light as all other labeled switches control what they're marked as, confirmed by switching them off and audibly or visibly seeing the blower and the pump/filter, respectively, stop working. Is the point of doing voltmeter...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

This is the voltmeter I have - what do I set it to (if it's acceptable) and where do I touch the other lead to? Presume when testing what's labeled AUX1 in purple, I place the red or black lead from the meter on the screw head marked in purple, but where does the other lead go? This is with the...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Okay 1. "Identify which LOAD wire is connected to AUX2 - the light. And disconnect it at the Compool panel." Does this mean to unplug (or unscrew and cap off) the wires labeled AUX2 shown in the annotated photo of the gold colored metal box? I'm attaching a second photo of it. 2. "Does your...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Ok, that's clear - was just trying to determine if by "any of it" you meant anything to do with the entire pool/pump/filter/powered system, not just the lighting. Needed elaboration as to what "it" is. Thank you. At this stage, what I gather can be done in short order is to leave the CB switch...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Given that we all know 12V LED bulbs exists, it makes no sense what the service guy said at all. I asked for clarification and he very vaguely hinted towards something else being involved that would prohibit using 12V LEDs in a plug & play manner in general it seemed, but failed to elaborate...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

How do I safely kill the pool lighting electronics? I don't really need or want it if it takes more than a couple hours (it's now consumed 2 days) or >$100. I urgently need to get back to life and other affairs and cease pouring into this counterproductive time sinkhole. All I am looking to do...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Throwing the 240 switch audibly shuts off pool equipment. The one labeled "Lite", however, may have been to the light but seemed not active only because there's a break in continuity in the system. 1. How much to pay a tech to come put the non-working light back and make sure nothing is live...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

I tried testing the light bulb receptical with a voltmeter earlier. It barely flickered, and did not move at all with power cut at switch. But the connections at the j-box are such a mess to even get good contact on.

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

I noticed that on the transformer as well. We have used this pool for 40 years, with, I believe, the identical lighting system, and now it's a completely new can of worms. Would taking out the fuses kill the connection to the pool lights? How I wish I hadn't brought the light out. Do we get a...

UPDATE - Cancelling Attempt to bring 12V light back in working order

Attached is a photo of just the pool bulb. I was not able to remove the spa bulb - the spa fixture could not be brought to the deck surface as the line was much too short. Perhaps any pool putty around the line has now been dislodged and from lightly tugging on the fixture to try to take it out...
