    Indoor Pool - Dehumidification System

Just received my first estimate, $50k. Apparently my mechanical room is too small for the Desert Aire system they said I needed so they'd need to build an outbuilding for the equipment and run duct work to my pool room. They're working on a proposal for installing multiple in-wall...

Indoor Pool Humidity Control and SWG- Best Practice?

I used bleach for my last pool with great success. I'll give the SWG a try since it's already in place. Does anyone have any recommendation on heating/dehumidification systems? Had a HVAC company that works with indoor pools come by yesterday. He's going to supply a quote (in a couple weeks...

Indoor Pool Humidity Control and SWG- Best Practice?

Dave - I'm not sure why the original owner went with a SWG. Do you have any other recommendations for an indoor pool? Allen - The pool room has it's own HVAC ducting. The pool will be two degrees cooler than the air. More than likely I'll run the pool at 80F and the air will be set to 82F.

Indoor Pool Humidity Control and SWG- Best Practice?

Hi Maddie! I hope someone on here has some experience with this, I'm a little lost on next steps! The area you're referencing is actually a greenhouse, but yes, it needed some ventilation as well. Since we ventilated the greenhouse it has cleared up and is growing some vegetables!

Indoor Pool Humidity Control and SWG- Best Practice?

Hi everyone! I'm looking for some advice on humidity control for my recently acquired indoor pool. Some background: the pool is currently drained, has four skylights and three ceiling fans. The pool was built in 1990 and the previous owners of my home just used a furnace for climate control...

    Painting Indoor Pool

Hi ctrav, the pool was built in 1990 and from what I can tell the equipment is of a similar age. I've pressure tested the lines since the home was vacant for five years and found everything to be pretty good. I'll give it a good scrubbing this weekend and see what it looks like.

    Painting Indoor Pool

I was reading through some previous threads and noticed that it was pretty unanimous... TFP is against painting pools. Everyone seems to be in agreement that re-plastering is the best approach. My pool is already painted, what would the advantage be of just re-plastering? Would you then paint...

    Fuse problem

I dug up around where I thought I potentially nicked the line. The line was in perfect shape, no nicks, burns, or damage. I then checked all of my connections, first from my panel to my safety switch, in the safety switch, then from safety switch to pump. As John recommended, I switched over to...

    Fuse problem

I reached through the strainer basket area and spun the impeller and it wasn't dragging, in my opinion. I'll check the amp draw of the motor next, that makes sense. I'm starting to wonder if I nicked the wire when I replaced some of the plumbing when I opened this year. I had to dig around...

    Fuse problem

Original Blown Fuse New Blown Fuse The pictures should work now. I'm not sure of the gauge of the wire. The pump is the only device on the circuit. The run is probably between 75' and 100'. I'll check the connections again. I checked them at the box outside before I put the fuse back in...

    Fuse problem

Original Blown Fuse - NON 20 amp 250V New Blown Fuse - NON 20 amp 250V I seem to have an issue with blowing fuses. I have a GFCI breaker on my main box at my house which leads out to the box seen in the pictures above. I replaced my pump this year. It's a 1HP Super Pump running on 120V. The...

Do we need a pad under steps in AG?

I'm contemplating the same thing knkp. I have the larger wedding cake steps for my in ground pool. Could someone who's done it post a link to item they bought from Home Depot so I know I'm getting the right thing? Also, I bought my steps on Craigslist and the guy said he had to put bricks in...

    Pump Repair/Replacement - General Upgrades

http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/91iT7XXYyBS.pdf That is the instruction manual for my pump. It says not to purge the system with compressed air. As far as bearings, I'd Google your pumps manual. Mine uses the water as coolant and lubricant for the motor shaft. Use silicone lube for...

    Pump Repair/Replacement - General Upgrades

I know the feeling... I was getting ready to add DE to the filter and start shocking. Buzz then nothing. I'm going to get it checked out after work. I'll let you know what they say.

    Pump Repair/Replacement - General Upgrades

I went to open this past weekend and my pump was seized. I turned off the power, reached through the strainer area and attempted to turn the impeller. It would not turn. I took the back off the pump and attempted to turn the screw which turns the motor and could not. Anyways, I'm taking it to a...

First open with BBB - Test Results, Next Step?

Thanks for the input. A couple questions about copper... I had the pool store close my pool last season and for some reason they lowered the water level over 2 feet so I've spend the past couple days refilling. Our water pressure is the worst I've ever seen. Would you still recommend a copper...

First open with BBB - Test Results, Next Step?

This is my first full summer with a pool. We moved into our house last August and I opened the pool and got pool stored into using Pristine Blue. Anyways, I just opened the pool and tested the water with my new TFTest Kit... FC = 0 CC = 0 pH = 7.5 TA = 130 CH = 100 CYA = 0 I double, then...

Really basic question - When to open???

Thanks for the advice. I just get jealous of the posts from the people in Texas that are already open! Do you have any thoughts on skimmer cover for winter closing? I just don't want to drain and refill. I'm on city water and my water pressure is absurdly low. Are there any structural concerns...

Really basic question - When to open???

I've looked and can't seem to find a topic on this. I don't really have a preference on when I open, but I know some people recommend closing when water temperature reaches a certain level to inhibit organic growth so I don't know if there is a similar thought process for opening. This will...

Pristine Blue vs. Baquacil vs. Chlorine

Isaac - I think I understand now. Essentially as long as you can balance everything you can use as many or as little B's as needed. BTW, nice picture! I definitely need to get steps for my two. We have to lift them out of the pool now! Dave - Thanks, I'll take a look at Richards posts. I was...

Pristine Blue vs. Baquacil vs. Chlorine

Thanks for the advice everyone! One question about the BBB method... Is there an alternative to borax that I could use? I read a thread that brought up how borax was unsafe for dogs.

Pristine Blue vs. Baquacil vs. Chlorine

This is my first post! My wife and I moved into our first house last summer with our first pool. Our local pool store recommended using Pristine Blue for our pool touting that it's "chlorine free" and you only have to check your chemicals once a week. As the summer wore on I found that I...
