Idea to help keep water out of Intex rails and t-connectors....

Partial update. The Seattle fabric is the best match and feels to be of good quality. I made a mistake when I ordered it. There is an option at check out to have the fabric folded versus rolled. With the caveat that "rolled may cost more", but it does not state how much more. Nothing more...

Repairing the deck portion above the rail

The sinking of the deck made me think, why not raise the deck to get to those rails? Just a short term lifting of the deck. This way you can both re-support the deck at a preferred height and access the rail. Think of those foundation leveling Jack's that screw. For leveling a mobile building

Recommend me a ladder for my deck, please

    1) for algae. Anything touching the bottom would be plastic and can trap bacteria below and within. 2) I have foam below my liner and did not 2ant a ladder to change depths over time or be unstable on that foam. The way it is now, I can brush below the ladder and even remove it in less than 5...

Recommend me a ladder for my deck, please

Sturdy. 6x6 posts in cement as well as 4x4 posts at the pool Tees. Here is a video: I am happy with the result after my little shim hack to make the steps less wobbly. I have decided not to convert it to flip up because I think it is too dangerous should it get dropped on a swimmer's head...

    Loose foam base?

How do you know for sure it is not just all sand? One test could be to scoop some into a cup of tap water and see what floats. It might be sand mixed with lime.

Closing - Dryco Pool Cover Drain

This will be my first year of buying a pump for my covered AGP. Why are you going with the manual type versus an automatic electric pump?

Question for owners of a round Intex pool of at least 48" in height

I have a 20'x52 and it has some overlap, but there is not an edge that flaps. More like an overlap that is stiches on each layer's edge. I will inspect it closer with goggles when I can, but it's supposed to rain for 40 years around where I live. Maybe next weekend...

    Insulating above ground pool

So the pool warmer blanks are just bubble wrap with a thicker mil plastic and air in between? I ask because I am wanting to buy a blanket to extend my swim season and I cannot get past the reviews of all of the plastic breaking down from the chlorine and general use. I am afraid they are like...

    Insulating above ground pool

I would think the ground pulls a lot of heat out of the pool. Having the pool on top of insulating foam board (like for a house) would be helpful for colder climate area. Same could apply for the outside. Try to mimic the more expensive above ground pools that have solid walls. Only yours...

Idea to help keep water out of Intex rails and t-connectors....

Thanks for sharing the link. I am midway through a deck now. These patches are a few weeks out. I am liking your link more than the boat fabric I had found. I found a lot of options in search of a better color match, but could not get close enough with an online image to warrant ordering a...

Intex pool cover heats the pool now beyond what's refreshing. How to reverse the effect or cool the pool?

Maybe floating a large inner tube like toy would allow air to pass through the sides. Add a white or silver tarp over the top of that cover to reduce the solar loading effect. Only run the pump from midnight to 7am. Run the filter hose through a chiller of some sort. Just float on the top...

    Anybody upgrade their Intex SWCG?

Thanks for that! So I would ditch the controller portion of my Intex system. Fair enough. That's why I mentioned being on the fence to "hack" it or not just to toss it all in the trash a year later. The pump is decent though. Perhaps I can find a variable speed controller for it when I make...

How does it know when to turn on? Assuming it is tied into an intex pump somehow.

Recommend me a ladder for my deck, please

I have changed my mind on this more times than at McDonalds! My final order was for a galvalume ladder that was fixed attachment and white powder coated. I plan to modify it to be a full flip up. link here: Howell Stationary Dock Ladder, 4-Step Those plastic/resin flip up types can get...

Two more. this one is galvanized and then powder coated white, but is stationary. https://www.overtons.com/howell-stationary-dock-ladder-4-step-314701.html?cgid=ladders-swim-platforms there are many versions out there of this next one, but i found one that has a horizontal mounting plate near...

    Anybody upgrade their Intex SWCG?

I have the Krystal Clear SWCG that is part of This combo kit It just does not produce as much chlorine as i would have hoped. Then I read about how the cell dies sooner rather than later. In the mean time, I am on the fence about doing the hack to remotely turn the pump on and off so I can run...

Overnight chlorine test results and SWCG productivity test

ok, will do. I was hoping that the pool cover would negate the sun's UV effects. But maybe just loss from heat is a thing. Either way, producing 1 ppm in 8 hours covered is pretty sad, no? I see a lot of supplemental chlorinating in my future because running this pump for 12+ hours a day is...

Overnight chlorine test results and SWCG productivity test

My Taylor kit has the option to put in 25ml of sample liquid, which gives a finer resolution of 0.2ppm per drop of R-0871. To that end, I using the bigger bottles of that stuff. I can also use the 10ml sample and get .5 increments. I wanted to be precise for this though.

Overnight chlorine test results and SWCG productivity test

I cannot crank up my SWCG. It is either on or off. My bleach bottles came from home depot, stored outside in the shade. We've had some 100* days over the past month. Is there a method for testing FC using my taylor kit? so that I can baseline the whole lot of 4 jugs?

Overnight chlorine test results and SWCG productivity test

I am about to jump into the TFP method of higher CYA and higher FC content in my pool. I have already adopted most of the other simple/BBB principles in my few years of owning a 500 gallon spa. For my pool, before I put in anything going forward, I want to know if my pool is ready for it and...

Recommend me a ladder for my deck, please

Thanks guys, that one made it on my list and its good to have some real world experience to go with it. I am leaning towards this one in stainless steel: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B097NDLLHR/ref=ox_sc_act_title_2?smid=ANNYFJC2Y5PU4&psc=1 That portion below the mounting level is 44"...

Here is an example: RecPro Marine Pontoon Boat Dock Heavy Duty Aluminum 4 Step Removable Boarding Ladder AL-A4 https://a.co/d/fTAseoM If this was stainless I would buy it today. So I just want a top mount with no touching of the pool liner at all.

Recommend me a ladder for my deck, please

What are you all using? Any tips to watch out for? I use salt water, so aluminum is out unless I pay to powder coat it. I prefer it not touch the bottom. It need to be removable without much effort because I often use a cover, but i may switch to a floating solar cover and make this a mute...

After having my pool going on a month now, the one thing I am very glad that I used was Foam Board Insulation under my pool. It's the 4x8 sheets that come in various thicknesses at Lowes or Home Depot. I went with 1/2" thick. The blue store brand kind. it has the psi rating I needed for a...

Aeration and its effect on well, everything

Thanks, that helps a lot. I have an oversized pump for my pool, so the water alone with no aeration pushes well. I think this has a lot to do with my mystery pH rise. Love me some simple fixes!

Aeration and its effect on well, everything

My Intex AGP has a single nozzle pushing water into the pool. Outside of the pool is a valve built into that jet assembly with an optional rubber cap. When the cap is on, no air bubbles go into the water stream. With the cap off, air gets inserted. It is a lot like how a spa works. In my 500...

What's the reasoning behind a higher CYA level recommendation from TFP?

I came here today with the same question. My pool store says that a CYA over 50 will cause "chlorine lock" and made it sound like FC would not be available to fight bacteria. My AGP manual also says not to exceed 50 for CYA. Is there a skin/eye side to this? Will my skin or eyes notice 8ppm...

Thanks for sharing this. I am going down the same path. I am trying to find material that matches. My approach now is to use marine fabric because it has good UV protection . I have a few samples coming to me this week and then I will buy a yard or so when I decide. I will share my results...

Intex prism leg sleeves and new t - joints

maybe this will help a future seeker.... I have the 20'x52" Intex Prism with the plastic Tee joints. Been up for a month now and they look to be very strong. I had to do some releveling of some of the legs and I used a high-lift jack (aka farm jack) to lift at the point of the Tee while did...
