Stupid question. Do you use the full width of the tape to wrap 3-4 times, or do you just use small narrow strips that go into the threads? I've seen it both ways and some of the pros only force into the threads. I hope that makes sense. We've done this on other Pvc projects (full width) and...

Thanks Jim. The In flow union looks like that. I was thinking of replacing it with same, since it's old. (If Leslie's has it). The Out to the Filter looks nothing like a Union, just a threaded 2" Pvc of some sort. THAT one was mostly my concern. We were hoping to be able to just clean it...

I wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who stepped in with your guidance. This was all very eye opening for me .. we'll put together a plan for 2024 to move away from Liquid Chlorine to a SWG system. Once we have it dialed in, I'll share for any gotchas that we need to be aware of.

I had considered a VSP years ago and I thought I read HERE (or someplace) that a VSP can't run on "LOW" if there is an elevated Roof Pool Solar system - which is what we have .. It's on a Cabana that is about a 15 ft elevation lift of the water. Is that not an Issue?

CH = 140 ... this is a fibergalss (sprayed on) surface. The waterline Tiles are grouted, and in contact with the water. I'd like to bring CH up to around 250. Calcium in the fill water is very low .. (I haven't checked THAT in years. But my testing always indicates pool water is low in CH...

Thank you so much for that detail. Helps me a lot. I'm in the SF BAY AREA. So also don't have SOLAR isolation valves - just a hose bib for putting air in the system to drain as necessary. So that Solar Check Valve you have is not rated at "Lb. Tension", right? That's what started my question...

We are in the process of replacing a leaking 3-way Pentair Valve after a couple years of replacing diverter & O-rings. Just tired of trying to fix going the "parts" route. In doing so, we have to cut PVC that includes an "inline" check valve that feeds into the Filter. I read on InyoPools.com...

You're spot on .. I have a friend who inherited a Pool and you should see the bags and buckets of "stuff" he uses, including Triclor .. I have given up trying to educate him - and even pointed him to this site. But alas .. I have yet to swim in his pool ... :cool:
