If you have a multiport valve with recirculate you could try it in that position, I think that bypasses the sand.If the pressure does not go down then I would look for a blockage or maybe a bad guage.

I replaced mine last year, got one of each, one with swivel and one without, ordered them online from leaslie's. Much cheaper than a new hose. I used some silicone and just twisted them on.

I had two or three of those on my steps, I drained the water down and sanded them off and repaired with some white gelcoat I got from the local boat dealer. That was probably 3 years ago and it has held up fine, but I have noticed a couple of new smaller ones that I may do the same with some day.
