    Holes / tear in liner..

Thanks! Is there any way to tell if they did use anything to cover the seam? I obviously won't be able to take a peek at it for a couple of months until I can get back in the water...but maybe I can feel for the edges of duct tape along the top part of the seam. What I am afraid of is that...

    Holes / tear in liner..

Hi, late in the season last year I noticed I was losing an inch or so of water a week. After looking around, I found a couple holes in the liner forming where the metal part of the pool walls are joined together (the liner is very tight and stretched out in that section due to the rivets that...

How much time do I have?

Thanks for the responses! Temps are supposed to be in the 70's for about 2 more days, then into the 60's for a few. Overnight temps will be in the 40's, so perhaps that will slow any algae activity down. Good call on the circulation comment...considering that my test water was basically at...

How much time do I have?

Hi, I tested the pool water today through the skimmer (still covered w/ mesh cover and leaf net) and here are the results: FC: 1 CC: .5 Ph: 7.2 TA: 80 Temp: 61 I am just so busy for the next week at least, so don't know how quick I can get to opening it up...so I was just wondering what you...

How to skim the top of the pool

BUMP this up :) I have been wondering the same thing. If anyone has any suggestions, please post some links to adapter plates, etc you may be using. I have the same setup and use the automatic regulation valve on the end of the Kreepy Krauly, which pulls water into the skimmer, but not at a...

How to get wet sand out of filter??

The pool stores say a lot of things that aren't true too!! :blah:

Opened today after being closed for 8 months...

Thanks everyone! I re-tested last night, and not much changed except that I had 0 FC now, but that's ok. So I added my CYA and bleach (raising to about 5-6 for now) thus far and ran it for about 8 hours. Installed a new over the rail light that I think will work pretty well, just want to move...

Opened today after being closed for 8 months...

Thanks poolmom! You are correct, I have not circulated yet. Do you think that my CYA level would change (raise) after re-circulating it? Just wondering if I have to run that test again, and use up more of the CYA test chemical!

When do those who live in the northeast open their pools?

Hello, I didn't want to start a new thread, but I checked my water temps today (in Missouri) and it is right at 50 degrees and is still covered. If I can't get it opened this weekend, is that still OK? This coming week temps will be in the 70's, pushing 80's by the weekend...so I may be...

Opened the pool today, and had to take pictures

Very nice!!! My wife's family and I are building a cabin on the Ozarks, around the 80 mile marker. We are looking forward to spending many weekends down there soon :)

Opened the pool today, and had to take pictures

What part of MO are you from? I am trying to hold off until May to uncover the pool, but if we get a lot more 70+ days soon, I think I'll have to give in :) Congrats on the opening OP!

    Need some stormwater managment help

I also think that I may need to add a sideways trench too, to catch more of the water. Would a trench that runs parallel w/ that orange fencing be suffice too, or overkill?

    Need some stormwater managment help

In addition to the trench along the top of my yard, I believe I will need to release some of the water that is always standing around the pool (although it should be FAR less now). Here is what I am picturing: Any suggestions if I go this route? That part should be pretty easy to divert...

    Need some stormwater managment help

Well, might be a slight (or major) change in plans. After investigating the yard a little bit more today, the whole yard is a SWAMP, thus we would only be helping about 1/5 of our yard out if I did the trenching right in front of the pool. With that being said, this is the new plan in...

    Need some stormwater managment help

I guess Mr. Shovel it is! I spoke to my father-in-law, and here is what he had to offer: "I think I'd dig a trench from the south corner of of your garage (the building you may see in some of the pictures) straight across your yard to link fence. Find the low spot and trench to fence line by...

    Need some stormwater managment help

Called the Home Depot, and they have the ditch witch available...4 hrs for $89 or 24 hrs for $127. She said it would cut 4.5" x 28" deep. Seem like that would be a good route to go? Is it worth trying to get it done in 4 hrs, or will that be no problem at all? Have never used one, so didn't...

    Need some stormwater managment help

Thank you everyone again! I am still researching, but I do like your point about the neighbors yard - thus I'll probably lean towards that design now. I am about to call Home Depot to see what they have for trenching help. How far back past the fence do I need to go..just far enough that it...

    Need some stormwater managment help

So, would I benefit the same if I did just go down one side, say the left side of the pic? If I do one side only, would the piece of pipe in front of the pool need to be higher on the right side sloping down to the left where it would then connect w/ the side piece? Thanks again!

    Need some stormwater managment help

Thanks a lot for that information, very helpful!! After searching around what you described, I am seeing a lot of references to french drains too. In the pic below, I drew what I pictured to be the layout of the drain system. Am I anywhere close? Would I want to make it wider and go back...

    Need some stormwater managment help

Hi, our pool was installed last year in July, so we didn't have time to do much besides getting the pool itself up (and that was a pain, but hopefully in the past)... but I was able to get a decent backfill around the pool. Our pool/yard is at the bottom of our road, thus we receive a lot of...

    Just added stabilizer...

and now I need to drain my pool down a few inches because we got poured on overnight! Go figure, I just finished filling it up to the skimmer yesterday too (they didn't forecast this much rain...grr!) Anyways, since I just added stabilizer to the skimmer last night, if I were to set my...

    Beaded liner coming off...

Yup, did a water test when I got home and at least I do not have any algae to contend with. I added 2 jugs of bleach, one cup of muriatic acid (need 2.5 more cups), and 4 lbs of stabilizer (called for 6 lbs). I am letting it run for a few hours tonight, then kicking it back on tomorrow morning...

    Beaded liner coming off...

Thank you everyone for the words of encouragement! The pool company was out today and used a hair dryer to heat up the liner, since it was only in the 50's today..but, everything (finally????) seems to be ok, and I am finishing the last few inches of filling up. The water has been sitting...

    Beaded liner coming off...

Could I use the method I used to drain it down to run and circulate? I hooked a vacuum hose straight to the pump (used the waste setting)..instead use filter though. Would the return jet shooting into the water from above the water line allow for any circulation?

Yeah, I probably need to fill it 4-5 more inches to hit the skimmer, just a little hesitant doing so...
