The husband finally let me take over and I don't want to blow it!!

But she has said she passed...twice. Once I pass, i stop. I guarantee my pool would not pass on a daily basis. That thing is used to death every day. There were 10 sunscreened and well hydrated kids swimming for about 5 hours straight yesterday. The water was cloudy after and i am sure the...

The husband finally let me take over and I don't want to blow it!!

I just have one question: Have you been able to enjoy your pool? Because I would be swimming in that sucker during the day working on it at night. It seems you are driving yourself batty over miniscule amounts of chemistry.

    CYA off the charts

I am assuming you are under water restrictions at this time? - - - Updated - - - If you are unable to drain and refill you must keep the FC high enough for your CYA. It can be done, I did it several years ago. Here is the Chlorine/CYA chart...

    low CYA, high chlorine...unsafe?

If you are using pucks, the CYA is there. It takes time to show up on tests. We have swum past shock level before and nobody even noticed. It is not recommended, but we are still here...A large swimming group is going to lower that FC pretty fast anyway.

Splashless Bleach? is it ok to use

It will not destroy your pool or melt your kids' skin...but don't use it. I accidentally put 2 gallons in my pool earlier this year and I am still here...with a clear pool.

    Help with chemicals

I want to add that if you feel comfortable draining and refilling...more power too you. There are guidelines on here for that also. No shame in it, we have done it before. I remember once pumping the pool down and scrubbing the liner with a soft brush in the early days of our pool.

    New pool help

Follow your builder's directions to the letter or you might void your warranty. Those pucks are adding CYA along with chlorine. You need CYA in your water if it is a fresh fill.

    Help with chemicals

For a pool that black, you could be looking at 2 more weeks because it will take a while to filter out all of the dead algae. Just keep your pool at shock level. DO NOT GIVE UP. I don't use stabilizer very often, but it seems like you put lots of it in your pool. It takes a while for it to...

Help! Finally realized that the pool store is crazy....

My advice would be to read the articles in POOL SCHOOL two or three times and to utilize the pool calculator http://www.troublefreepool.com/calc.html. You may be able to get it clear in a week, but you have to be willing to test and keep the chlorine levels at SLAM levels and purchase as much...

    New here - need advice!

You COULD use your pucks and let them add CYA while you are trying to get it up. I think one 3" puck adds 0.7ppm CYA, but that might take too long. BE SURE to read POOL SCHOOL and use the POOL CALCULATOR. You can add your stabilizer according to the calculator and then dose your pool according...

    Get rid of CC

Be prepared to buy LOTS of bleach to shock a pool with a CYA level that high. A partial drain, if possible, might be in order. It will make SLAMing much easier... And a 10FC level is not too high considering your CYA of 110. I maintained a pool at 12-14FC one year due to high CYA and nobody...

First Sample Advice - Conversion to TFP Method
