What did you do to your pool today?

I have to drain water again. We've been getting dumped on here in the Northeast lately. 3rd time I've had to drain so far this year, and I suspect after this round of it I'll need to add more CYA and salt too

Dingos are also incredibly fun to operate, so there's an entertainment value included in the price as well. I'm seeing we got 1.5" of rain last night, so you got that done just in time. It might look messy this morning, but you can relax a bit now and take your time getting that back filled and...

Sounds like your fill water pH and TA is similar to mine, which makes sense given our wells are probably pulling from the same aquifer. For the first year of my pool, I had high TA and the pH would rise. I'd let it get up to 8.0 and then add Muriatic Acid to drop it back down to the low 7s...

Pool Opening Spring 2025 - Removing the Leaking Heater Manifold

A little bit of heat, penetrating oil, and some vice grips and you'll have that last bolt out in no time. Subscribed to follow along.

Sorry, I didn't see this username ping. My permits were $563, plus another $250 or so to have an engineer approve and stamp the drawing from the pool company. Like you, I also put a sub panel in our shed for the pool equipment. I suppose this explains how West Deptford has that nice community...

For your plumbing supplies it might be worth checking out Audubon Plumbing Supply Co. They're able to deliver everything, and you can get 20' sticks of PVC to reduce the amount of couplers (and possible leak points.)

You've got the right idea. There's a correct glue/primer for the job but it is very much normal to use those valves with schedule 40 PVC.

I trust your experience with it then. I'm probably just in a "grass is always greener on the other side" situation where I only have experience with non-foamed walls.

I'll say that I didn't do wall foam for my inground pool and I slightly regret it. I know inground and above ground are different beasts, but I do wish I had the tolerance of imperfections that foam provides.

Glad it worked out. Your initial quote for excavation of your semi-buried pool was more than what MVA charged me for a non-standard in ground pool excavation. Depending on how much backfilling you have to do, it may be worth looking into renting a Dingo. They're the stand on/walk behind mini...

Howdy neighbor! Depending where in West Deptford you are I might be able to throw a stone and have it land in your new pool. I'm right across Mantua Creek in East Greenwich. Looks like you're already in good hands with respect to equipment. I'll add my .02: - We went with an oversize cartridge...

What did you do to your pool today?

Closed down after another successful (and easy) pool season thanks to TFP! I started around 9:30 and wrapped up just in time for the 1 PM NFL games to start. My ah-ha moment/pro tip that I discovered this year was using the Shop-Vac to draw all of the air from the inflatables. Insert a small...

What did you do to your pool today?

Interesting day so far. Tested my water today. FC was down to 4, so I bumped my SWG from 10% to 20%. It's been ultra hot and sunny here lately, and we've been using the pool a ton so I just assumed we're burning more FC now. Just now we're in the pool and I run my hand across 1 of the 3...

Lol we've been swimming in our unheated pool for the past 3 days. Started around 77 but I think we hit 80 today.

First time with low TA, looking for reassurances

Thanks. Last year I think I started at 80 and just let it slowly drift down to ~60 over the course of summer. But agreed that there doesn't seem to be a point in raising it past 60 for me until we get to at least July.

First time with low TA, looking for reassurances

All systems go this morning. Added the 2lbs of CYA that I had leftover. PoolMath tells me that should get me up to ~60. I'll see where it ends up before deciding if I need to add more.

First time with low TA, looking for reassurances

New results: FC: 10 pH: 7.5 TA: 50 CYA: 40 Salt: 4200 I ran the TA test as 'by the book' as I can and I'm confident in the reading. So, I'm not going to mess with it. I'll run the OCLT for the SLAM and then add CYA tomorrow.

First time with low TA, looking for reassurances

My earliest logs from when we initially filled the pool seem to indicate a pH of 7.8 and a TA of 110. I can take a sample of that later today.

Interesting, I am using all new reagents from a set I just got. I did notice the squeeze bottles seem firmer too. I'll re-test everything before I make any more changes.

First time with low TA, looking for reassurances

My fill water is very high TA, so I've never had low TA before. The logs in my account are up to date, but when I opened this past weekend after a lot of draining over winter I had: FC - 0 pH - 7.2 TA - 30 CH - 25 CYA - 40 Salt - 2000 I dumped 4 gallons of bleach to get some immediate FC up to...

What did you do to your pool today?

I think we're at 6" of rain over the past two weeks here. Insanity. edit: I just went back and checked based on some local weather stations. We've gotten 7.84" in the last 17 days.

I've been using Aldi's house brand bleach for a few years now and never run into an issue with additives.
