Going on vacation, question about SWG %

I've also been very surprised I could keep it so low! Appreciate you breaking it down like this for me. I do run my pump 24 hours every day and am definitely open to bumping the SWG % a bit higher. Thanks for the reply! Edit: SWCG hasn't been set higher than 25% for the entire summer aside from...

Going on vacation, question about SWG %

Hi folks! I've managed to have a truly trouble-free first pool season thanks to all of the great info and help here and I'd like to keep it that way while on vacation. I'll be gone for 7 days and won't have anyone coming by to check on things. No rain in the forecast until the day before/day off...

Figuring out pump speed and run time + some filter maintenance questions

Okay, so I have a schedule that seems to be working well for me and have a few follow-up questions, which include some questions about filter maintenance and pressure. Gonna ask here, but if it's preferable to start a new thread, just let me know! The PB had my schedule set with 15 mins...

Sharing a spreadsheet in case it's helpful for other newbies

Ah. Yeah, I saw conflicting info between Pool Math and one of the articles on the site about SWG and levels, which I asked about in a different thread. So I was just trying to figure out where to land with that. Sticking to the Pool Math levels makes this easier anyhow, so that's good to know.

Sharing a spreadsheet in case it's helpful for other newbies

Hi folks! Been reading and learning and have found that even with the Pool Math app I still need to go back and dig up info to make sure I'm really understanding why I'm doing certain things. So, I made myself a spreadsheet and thought I'd share in case it's helpful for any other newbies...

Figuring out pump speed and run time + some filter maintenance questions

It didn't even occur to me I was allowed to do that!! Yes, there are doors on the skimmers.

Figuring out pump speed and run time + some filter maintenance questions

That's why I was thinking I needed to raise the pump speed, at least during the hours I'd be looking at the pool. Still need to figure out exactly what keeping the flow switch happy means, so that's where I'll be off to next! Sounds like an easy enough plan. I can definitely start there.

Figuring out pump speed and run time + some filter maintenance questions

Hello again! I've just recently taken over care of my new pool and I'm well on my way to enjoying a trouble-free pool thanks to everyone's help! The next thing on my list to sort out is how long and at what speed I should be running my pump. I think I have it figured out but would love a +1 or...

New pool owner, creating spreadsheet for chemistry levels and have some questions

Hey folks! Thanks so much for all of your help during the pre-build and build phases. We now have a beautiful pool and I'm working on refreshing my memory on maintenance. Since I'm a documentarian by trade, I'm making a spreadsheet to use as a reference. I have a few questions I'm hoping you can...

Those stairs do look really nice! We aren't getting any stair work at this time. But maybe on the future.

The concrete guy was super helpful and came out a few weeks ago to draw in the sand (literally) some ideas. We ran with one and now it's framed and ready for pouring. Video tour, if you'd like: Pool deck layout. I'm super happy with it and can't wait to see it all come together.

Most likely brushed concrete due to budget concerns. Would really like to go for stamped, but I think it's unlikely we cold afford it. At the moment planning to maximize the amount of deck we can get over a smaller amount that's prettier. But I could change my mind.

Thanks to all of the help from you all (thank you!) and a lot of research, we have a filled pool with the plumbing on. We've had a good experience with our pool builder and it was only a month from ground break to turning on the plumbing! 🎉 We just need the concrete poured and safety cover...

    Sulfur smelling water

Thanks! I found that one and it doesn't seem to have calcium hardness (I'm assuming the hardness value there is total hardness) and the iron in some samples seems right on the lower level of when staining issues may start happening. My dad works for a water treatment facility in another city...

    Sulfur smelling water

Curious: Do you suggest this because I mentioned the well or because of something to do with my local city water supply (ETA which is something we'll definitely look into)? We don't need to use the well at all for the pool, so that's why I'm asking.

    Sulfur smelling water

. . . that source is well water after all. I was doing some testing today to see if the sulfur smell would go away after a while, and noticed that when I turned that faucet on, what I thought was my geothermal heat pump started up. Turns out it was another pump, hidden in the garage around the...

    Sulfur smelling water

I don't think it's the whole water supply to the house because the smell only comes from one source. But I'm definitely down to call the city and see what they can offer before shelling out any money. Thanks a lot for your time!

    Sulfur smelling water

Thank you! I should have more fully fleshed out my initial message. I looked into this when I first noticed and learned it could be either: In the hot water heater in all the pipes in an isolated pipe It's definitely isolated, but we've tried running just the hose at that spigot as well as...

    Sulfur smelling water

Hmm, not that I know of. I'll see what I can find out, though! ETA: There's nothing on our property to indicate a well. The affected spigot is attached to the house.

    Sulfur smelling water

We aren't building until 2023, but I wanted to check in to see if anyone here has experience with water that smells of sulfur. The water spigot in our backyard puts out smelly water and I want to get it taken care of before we need to use it to fill the pool. It's the only stinky water (inside...
