Cloudy still after about 3 weeks from opening!

When the pressure rises 25% (usually it gets to about 24 PSI), I just bump it again. That brings pressure down to about 18 PSI, then I let it filter until I bump it again. When I get tired of the need for bumping getting so close together, then I backwash and put in new DE.

Cloudy still after about 3 weeks from opening!

In that case, if I skipped bumping, I'd literally be backwashing and replacing the DE about every hour or two. That seems crazy?

Cloudy still after about 3 weeks from opening!

It's a Hayward Perflex extended cycle de filter model EC50AC. . It's definitely the bump type. The instructions on the top say to bump three times. By the way CC level is 0.5.

Cloudy still after about 3 weeks from opening!

We opened our pool for the 3rd season and having trouble getting it to stop being cloudy. Three season pool owner only, so I know some, but just enough to be dangerous. Still a newbie... Quick pool opening summary (and my logs should link here too - with notes that may give additional...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Still leaking. Seems to happen more when we use the pool. Saturday I patched a ~6" patch with regular pool vinyl and H-66 cement designed for underwater use, over the previous gash I'd patched before, and assumed was still leaking. Heavy pool use that day ~4 hours later. I'd asked them to stay...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Fill water - pH 7.7 TA 120 (!) I'm assuming there's no fix for this. Fill water is from a well, currently runs through a water softener (salt) which I plan to bypass for the pool full hose soon. I read that AGP's have metal that SWG's salt corrodes. I'd be interested if it was possible to get...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Appreciate the assistance as always. Apologies for the slow reply... I was not aware adding a gallon every few days is normal. Pools are even more expensive than I thought! :P Since I posted, chlorine usage has slowed somewhat, but it's also not as sunny nor hot here, and we haven't been...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Backwashed, and things seem semi-normal. Two issues at present - Issue (1) - after repairing a leak a few weeks ago, the pool once again is leaking, losing about a 1/2" of water level per day. I suspect that the large gash I repaired (about 2.5" long, L-shaped) is leaking again, since I haven't...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Still trying to overcome the "green" issue. May need to backwash. Filter seems to be running well and I haven't sensed any DE getting into the pool. Haven't had time to do a "full-on" SLAM continuously monitoring the chlorine levels, but I have been keeping them high as much as feasible...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Update: I have not yet checked for the flow controller. I understand that could be the/an issue, but had a sense it wasn't the main cause. I called the local pool place and he suggested inspecting the filter 'fingers' (flex-tubes) and the 'plates' (tube sheets) for any holes or cracks. I...

Joe Smith pool saga - DE "leak" ??

Can you point me to the document that that quote comes from? I don't see that in the filter manual. CORRECTION: after digging through the manual, while not mentioned otherwise, I did find the "floor controller" (washer) shown on the assembly diagram. I'm not sure whether I have this. I suppose...

Also the filter media I used before (bag) and now (box). New media seems about the same as before. I use 5 lbs, which matches what the previous owner used, and matches the nameplate on the filter.

This should now include my signature with pump and filter info. Any ideas how my DE media is leaking into my pool? Here are pics of my pump, filter, and internals of filter.

TL;DR - Algae seemingly gone. DE "leaking" from filter into pool? Details: Using borates may come later, but for now I am dealing with another issue. Using the method here - https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/turning-your-green-swamp-back-into-a-sparkling-oasis.3913/ I have been able to...

The previous owner used this method with good results. I priced the system he used at the pool store, which was under a brand name - and found that the underlying chemistry was borates. And this - https://www.troublefreepool.com/wiki/index.php?title=Borates_in_pool
