Does Running the Pool at Night Lower the Water Temperature?

I’ll give it a shot and start running the pump from 12PM-10PM. Opened up the pump pot before in the hot sun and the water felt like a warm bath. It can’t hurt recirculating that into the pool; might get it up a few degrees compared to running it at night.

Does Running the Pool at Night Lower the Water Temperature?

I recently read that running your pump at night could lower the water temperature during the day. Is this true? If so, what’s the science behind it? Also, what’s the best time of day to run your pump to achieve max water temperature? TIA

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

I have a rock about the size of a baseball in my skimmer basket, and it covers most of the bottom of the basket. Is this too big? Could it somehow affect the operation of the pump/skimmer? The rock is large to help prevent the vortex I was getting in the basket.

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

This might be a dumb question but could a larger rock/brick obstruct too much of the skimmer/drain to the pump? Should the rock be about the size of a baseball?

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

I tried a brand new weir and it did not help.

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

But the water level is actually slightly higher than it normally is, and the second screw up on the skimmer plate is more than halfway up (Hard to distinguish in pic).

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

I have a rock in there already that's a little larger than a golf ball. It's the same rock from last year when I didn't have a vortex.

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

It’s actually stuck in the horizontal/down position (fully open). I don’t see anything in there that would be causing it to stick.

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

No, the water is a little more than halfway up the skimmer.

    Weir Causing Vortex in Skimmer?

When I opened my pool this year the pump was surging and the pump pot was not staying primed. I determined that the weir in the skimmer was staying open and causing a vortex, as everything returned to normal after I removed the weir. I trimmed about a half inch off the weir but the problem...

Pressure Keeps Decreasing at Return Jet

That's what I'm thinking. The hard part will be finding the leak. Pump lid, o-ring, and drain plug look ok. I have a ball valve before the pump that may be the culprit. Also, like I mentioned in the original post, my electrician accidentally drilled into the wrong spot on the skimmer when...

Pressure Keeps Decreasing at Return Jet

Water is crystal clear; chemistry is perfect. However when I opened this year I had to remove a lot of leaves and debris. I backwashed a few times after that. There are also bubbles in the pump basket...

Pressure Keeps Decreasing at Return Jet

I have a Proline sand filter and 1 HP pump running my 10k gallon above ground pool. When the pump is first turned on, the pressure at the return jet is strong. The gauge reads between 10-15 PSI. After an hour or so, the pressure at the return jet begins decreasing dramatically while the gauge...

Proline Filter Problem (leaking sight glass)

I have a Proline filter which is about 2 years old. Recently the sight glass/waste port has continued to discharge water after a backwash or draining to waste. It continues discharging water, even when switching back to the filter setting and with the pump turned off (it discharges even more...
