    Stubborn algae afte SLAM

If I keep my FC at 10, or slightly above as suggsted, how am I to check pH to make sure its ok? From previous comments the FC should be below 10 to get a reliable pH score (which I aleady find to be a PITA) with the "match the color" test in my TF-Pro test kit...

OK good to know. I'll keep that in mind as I figure out a suitable output for my SWG...

    Stubborn algae afte SLAM

Haha! Glad my situation was of benefit :) Honestly the hardest part was the "pool water is crystal clear with no visible sign of algae (dead or alive)" part as its somewhat subjective. I *thought* the water was crystal clear when I stopped but now that I did it properly I can see the difference.

    How high? Just curious.

Great thanks. Didn't know about pH reading onnly being reliable below FC of 10. Than again, never had to do a SLAM before so FC was never above 10. I see with a CYA of 40, FC target is 3-7 so will turn the SWG back on at 8/9 as suggsted. Once I get to 70 CYA, looks like FC target is 5-10. From...

Its amazing what happens if you actually read and follow *all* the SLAM steps :) Pool is looking fantastic, so thanks to all! Water quality is definitely clear and the pool in general looks fantastic now. I've ticked all 3 boxes so am considering the SLAM complete: CC is 0.5 or lower - 0 your...

Is this for now or in general? PoolMath says 350-550 is ideal. Is the lower end ok?

Not home right now but I would have said stains from not brushing enough. Butnow that I properly read the SLAM process again I realised I didn't follow it through. I'll do it properly and see what happens. Will send photos if they still remain after.

Water is perfectly clear. Algae is on the walls in a few places.

OK seems clear enough. Thanks all. First time doing a SLAM. Will stick with it. I assume the plan is that the process kills the last few pieces of algae on the 2 or 3 places on the walls and I should be able to brush off whatver remains?

    Stubborn algae afte SLAM

After a few months of not taking care of my pool (I know I know..) I'm now paying the price. Most (99%) of the algae cleaned up after the SLAM and some brushing but some small pieces remain. It definately looks like green algae, idential the what was there before the SLAM. Question now is, do I...

Leak detection company - South Florida

Does anyone know of a good leak detection company in South Florida, Palm Beach county to be more precise. I have called a few places but have been underwhelmed with the answers. Any reccomendations appreciated.

    Instapark Betta review

The only issue I have is when I have the skimmer open fully (adding some CYA in a skimmer sock right now) and it tends to get stuck at the entrance. We sometimes leave it in when swmming but the choppy water does not seem to negatively impact it too much.

I was skeptical but its been fantastic so far. It also saves a lot of stuff falling to the bottom of the pool as well which is a bonus.

Solid plan. If you dont need the extra charging option the SE shoud be fine. I have the Plus (amazon deal) and have never used the charging option. Based in South Florida.

Just got mine and tested the SE first. It got grounded on the sundeck almost immediately and the extension legs did not help. I then tried the SE plus and it was able to navigate the sundeck without getting stuck, so it definitely rides higher in the water. Water is about 3.5" deep in that...

For anyone interested , the SE Plus is on sale on Amazon for $358, and I got a $30 coupon to bring the price to $328. I jumped on it as the used one I bought for $60 less on Amazon hasn't arrived yet.

Thanks again. Ordered the SE from Amazon (used but sold by Betta) with the same 1 year warranty, 30 day trial period. Will purchase the 3 year warranty as well once it arrives. Looking forward to not having to deal with it anymore! Fingers crossed.

Thanks. I can raise the water level a little to 3.75". Do you think I would need the extra charging of the Plus down here in south florida? Tempted to get the SE and use their 30 day trial at the minute.

I recently came across the Betta on Instagram and it seemed like it was too good to be true, but after finding this monster thread, I feel like it's worth testing it out. I live in South Florida, so don't think I need the dual charging of the Plus model but may need the shallow water safeguard...

    Split face tile repair

Now that I have (thanks to TFP) started taking care of my own pool and making sure I brush properly etc. a few of these tiles have come loose. Whats the best product to reattach them? They are mostly above the water line, but will be under water when it rains a lot. I have about 10 in total...
