    Do you have a solar cover? Do you use granular stabilizer or liquid? Do not add a whole gallon of shock, I would only add enough to get to 5ppm fc and according to the pool calculator 35 oz of 10.5% liquid pool shock should get you in the ballpark. If you add a whole gallon you risk bleaching...

    Them won't work Intex has their own stupid thread size....go to Lowes and go to the electric aisle and look for the electric PVC adapters....they work it is what I used.......Mike - - - Updated - - - Also get rid of those Intex plunger valves they are way too restrictive put PVC ball valves...

    Just what you said except test the water first and the add the proper amount of bleach to reach your TARGET level per your cya and then brush your pool......so you now will be the pump do it daily in the evening once the sun is off the pool....sure you may have a little dirt on the bottom but...

    BBB can't possibly be this easy?? One question though...

    I have my cya at 50 and I target 8 ppm fc I test and add EVERY EVENING after the sun is off the pool back to 8 ppm a couple above my target of 6 ppm because I lose 2.5 ppm a day to the sun and bather load and 2 years running and have NEVER had to shock my pool.....BBB IS AWESOME........Mike

    As far as how long you have to backwash.....until the water in the sight glass is clear usually around 2 minutes but don't forget to rinse afterwards for about 45 seconds.....Mike

    All pools are different so it is impossible to answer that question..too many factors play a role in this..but if your clean pressure is 10 you would backwash and rinse at 12.5 or 13.....how ever long it takes for that to happen is a mystery to me......like bigfoot......lol......Mike

    Is 'shocking' adding a high amt of bleach?

    2 years running with the BBB method and never shocked the pool, but I am diligent with my testing same time every evening my wife knows where to find me.....pool side with my trusty test kit.......Mike
