Opening pool after some lovely critter used the cover as their bathroom, advice please:)

Unfortunately from everything I’ve read if it is raccoons, chlorine doesn’t help with the eggs that can be in droppings. I’m aiming to filter everything out of the water.

Opening pool after some lovely critter used the cover as their bathroom, advice please:)

We had some animal droppings on the pool cover that were cleaned up, but probably dissolved a little bit into the water before we were able to get them . Just in case they were raccoon droppings, the eggs are approximately 75 um x 60 um in size, I’d like to do a little extra filtering on the...

Raccoon Feces on Mesh pool cover and sanitizing.

Thanks! It’s seems like you did all you reasonably can. As my family has pointed out, we’d have to never leave the house to 100% avoid raccoons.

Raccoon Feces on Mesh pool cover and sanitizing.

I’m in the same situation and wondering what the OP did? We had something poop right in the middle of my mesh cover over the winter. I cleaned it up before googling “what animals will poop on pool covers?” 😬 I’ve read the cdc guidelines and was planning on running the filter for a few days...

What to do with leftover shock in bag

My pool needs one and a half bags of powder shock. I read on another site you shouldn’t keep the leftover shock. Is this true? Right now it’s in the box it came in with a clip on it stored in a plastic storage box.

    Bonding question

Thanks! I figure we will eventually need to replace the concrete around ours as well. Do you mind if I ask how much of a project that was time and budget wise?

    Bonding question

Thanks. I understand the lighting concern, I’m going to put solar floaters lights in if we do disable it and also add some solar lighting around the deck. For the light bonding. If the niche etc isn’t properly bonded would that be something that is only accessible under the concrete deck?

    Bonding question

I’m trying to determine what in my pool needs to be bonded. It appears the pump is bonded but I am not sure about the pool light or ladder. I’m going to have an electrician dead the pool light ( we never use it) and I’m hoping this would cancel out the potential need to dig up concrete to bond...

    Electric maintenance

I pulled this for 2017 NEC code. It says insulated covered or bare. Is this not referring to in ground pools? “ Bonded Parts. The parts specified in 680.26(B)(1) through (B)(7) shall be bonded together using solid copper conductors, insulated covered, or bare, not smaller than 8 AWG or with...

Does bare mean naked copper wire? I was thinking that I already had # 8 that was insulated. Thank you all for your patience.

    Electric maintenance

I’m reading through everything and don’t see anything about the bonding wire copper needing to be bare. I started looking into this last year and had come to the conclusion that the green wire running into the ground from the pump etc was insulated copper. Would replacing the bonding wire be a...

    Electric maintenance

Thanks. The covered green wire goes into the ground. I also see it running from the breaker for the pool light into the ground and on both our outdoor spigots. The previous owners were very safety conscious so I’d be surprised if they had something that wasn’t up to code. Although I’ve heard the...

This is the pump, I believe the green wire is the grounding wire. None of this stuff was inspected when we bought the house so I’m a bit at a loss.

    Electric maintenance

Hi all, I bought a house with a 20,000 gallon in ground gunite pool with one light and a sand filter. I’m still learning about the pool and how it operates. We have a service contract with the company that installed the pool. My question is how often should I have an electrician do a...

    Turning pump off for 48hrs

I’m going away for two days and considering turning my pump off. We currently have a small drip from the pump that I put a bucket under to keep water from accumulating so I don’t want to leave it on while I’m not home. The pool gets 10 hours of full sun. Is it a terrible idea to turn it off?

    Is this a bonding wire?

Thanks for your welcome! I’m so happy to have found this forum. The pool is gunite with a small concrete deck and a detachable ladder ( I think the cups would be bonded?).

    Is this a bonding wire?

It runs into the ground by the pump and the sand filter. We don’t have a heater. The pump timer is attached to a wooden post and the main breaker is inside my house. The pool light has a separate switch in a electrical box outside the house.
