New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

I have been using the 614IQ for about a week now. My warrior died, i kept meaning to take it apart to diagnose, but just didnt get around to it. Bought a betta bot, that basically did nothing. The 614IQ works great. i had two problems with the warrior - getting stuck on the main drains in year...

Cleaner advice for pool surrounded by oak trees

I bought a betta too and all winter it collected about 20 leaves. The skimmer baskets were completely full (didnt check them) and the bottom of the pool had about 2 gallons of leaves. Maybe my skimmers work too well for the betta to get anything? I just got an evo 614IQ (per the latest recs...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

My old pentair warrior SE broke after 3 years at the end of last season which I felt was a little short. It was fine except it got stuck on the main drains within 10 minutes of starting a cycle (I bought covers which reduced getting stuck to once every few weeks) and the cable shredding was...

Aqua Evo vs Prowler (Dolphin) - Help me choose

the dolphins have an automation mode. This means you can use a smart switch to power it on and start a cycle at any time.

    Which robot? evo 502, 614IQ or ??

I looked at your thread for sure, but it was too long to read the whole thing. After a year of having it, has the cable started to disintegrate like the dolphin ones?

    Which robot? evo 502, 614IQ or ??

Had a pentair warrior SE that died. Looking for a new robot. The only thing I didnt like about the warrior was that the cable shredded, it started to get stuck on the main drain after the first season (bought drain covers which worked), died after 3 years. I liked that I could use my zwave smart...

Pentair warrior SE died what should I replace it with?

The EVO 502 is on sale BTW for 500, but the instructions say to not leave it in the pool. My warrior SE was in the pool for 3 years straight. Does it have the ability to turn when the power in the plug is turned on? The warrior SE did not have automation but it had a mode where when the power...

Pentair warrior SE died what should I replace it with?

Like a lot of people it died right at 3 years. I really did like it and even at 250/year it is probably worth it. I havent had a chance to take it apart yet to see if I can get it going. One minute it was working fine. Then the lights wouldnt come at all. I read that some found it was the...

Have some kind of yellow algae (?)

Ok I put crushed vitamin C onto one of the stains and the entire area is now stained black. Any suggestions? The vitamin c test was apparently a terrible idea.

Have some kind of yellow algae (?)

I suspect you guys are right, I plan to test with vitamin c. The ph got high while we were gone so I think any metal came out of solution.

Have some kind of yellow algae (?)

Was away for a month and my pool turned green in the last week we were away. We have a saltwater system but with the texas heat at 105+ it wasnt able to keep up on the 60% setting that I set it to before I left. We got home tuesday night and so started slamming the pool on this last wednesday...

    Stenner help please

the stenner pump comes with a screw in check valve that 100% happens to fit one of the inputs (maybe the hole for a pressure gauge) of my standard puck feeder. I just screwed it into that. I had to add an adapter so the check valve didnt protrude too far into the puck feeder. NEVER MIX PUCKS...

CYA high, getting too hot to drain?

In the sun you will lose some CYA. So if you keep on maintenance you might find the CYA is down to 80 or so by the end of the summer so you wont need to drain. You should read pool school. Generally speaking phosphates are irrelevant so long as you have enough FC. You shouldnt need to use...

SLAM, SLAM again, SLAM some more--Why do I have to do it again and again

You also shouldnt need to clean the cartridge weekly. Just monitor the pressure and clean when the pressure gets too high (this is dependent on your system). Mine is oversized so I clean the filter about once per year. With your screened in pool i would think you would only rarely need to clean it.

Is salt Water Pools Or chlorine Pools easier to handle?

by chlorine do you mean pucks? In the long run pucks will build up CYA, causing you to need to drain your pool. I had a great stenner pump/bleach system I setup. I would buy 20 gallons at a time and fill a blue 55 gallon drum. It would last about 30 days in the summer and pretty much all winter...

    FC and CYA high

your FC will come down on its own over a few days. Just stop adding things to it. In texas we seem to lose CYA too so that may come down over time as well.

Missing Stabilizer Second time stabilizer has gone to zero..

Years ago I was noticing that my CYA was lost each year. I dont regularly measure it so didnt really know when it happened My neighbor used pucks and his CYA was in the hundreds but maybe not as high as it should have been considering he used pucks for years. We just built our new pool and...

New Pool in Leander, Texas - Gunite Done

Ill add that everyone is anti puck. I mainly use liquid chlorine and a stenner pump but find that pucks are actually useful. For whatever reason, both pools I owned routinely lost CYA and not through leaks. My neighbor who exclusively used pucks had his cya at like 140, so you cant exclusively...

    Another murky pool, with numbers

I dont know what the prices are for the individual tests in canada, but instead of buying the entire test kit, you could instead buy the chemicals separately. You should be able to get the proper size sample tube if you have a kit. You will use the 10ml sample amount Also the taylor K-2006 is...

Pool guy told me this is how it's done. I disagree

as far as vacuum goes, on this forum people generally recommend pool robots. They tend to recommend this retailer for the pentair warrior se. When I built my pool I didnt bother with the pool vacuum and just use the robot which works fine...

    Damage from saltwater in Pool

There are plenty of examples of buildings and statues that are only exposed to salt air or salt via rain. I didnt bother to post all the literature, just one summary study to emphasize the point that there is data that specifically shows that salt can destroy stone. Concentrations, temperature...

    Damage from saltwater in Pool

Moved from here. This has become the mantra on this forum, yet there is plenty of scientific evidence that ocean water concentrations of salt destroys stone. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2014/09/140911125910.htm

we are in austin. Austin is taking around 3 months to approve permits, so nov to jan seems about right. We requested our permits at the beginning of august and they were approved beginning of nov and then the dig started thankgiving week. We filled the pool march 26th. There was a lot of bad...

Converting from Hayward Chlorinator to a Stenner System

I just started up my pool. It is 15K gallons and will need about .3-.5 gallons of bleach per day in the summer. Stenner makes pumps with built in timers so Im using one of those instead of using an external timer. It has 12 on/off pairs and can go as low as a minute and produces 8.5 gallons a...

CYA and CH very high, time to drain?

You likely dont need to do a full drain. Why not drain to about 25%, then refill. Then your CYA should be about 50 and there is no need to add more. One thing I plan to do to combat CH is to have a gutter flowing into the pool to fill the pool with rainwater. It will actually cause the pool to...
