Quick question please: is Jack’s Magic Filter Fiber Stuff the same as Leslie’s Cellulose Fiber?

It seemed to work fine. We used it after an ascorbic acid treatment to remove stains in our pool. After we applied the ascorbic acid, we applied some sequestrant, and we hoped the cellulose would trap the sequestered metals. We think it worked, because this is the second time we did an...

Quick question please: is Jack’s Magic Filter Fiber Stuff the same as Leslie’s Cellulose Fiber?

I really appreciate the reply. I ended up buying the Leslie’s cellulose. It seems to be the same. I will keep this in mind for next time though. Thanks again.

Quick question please: is Jack’s Magic Filter Fiber Stuff the same as Leslie’s Cellulose Fiber?

I am currently in the middle of an ascorbic acid stain removal process and realized I need more Jack’s Magic Filter Fiber Stuff ASAP. Leslie’s carries a bag of cellulose fiber, which is ostensibly the same thing, but I want to confirm. Many thanks for the help.

    Korky-style auto-fill valve questions

Hi TFP, I would be grateful for your thoughts on the below. I did some searching of the forum, but I did not see these questions answered. Recently, I replaced my Korky-style auto-fill valve. It seems to be working fine, but I do have the below questions. When filling, is water supposed to...

After testing, is it safe to dump testing regents in the pool?

Quick question as per the title: is it safe to dump testing regents in the pool after each test? If not, where is the best/safest place to dump? Thanks!

CYA very high with unknown reason

Sorry to bump this thread, but I wanted to express my appreciation for all the help. I am now a Bleach Believer. Screw the pucks. I read through all the Pool School stuff, and it has helped tighten up a lot of knowledge gaps. What a great forum. :) Thanks!

CYA very high with unknown reason

Last year, we had to drain and refill our pool. After refilling, I went to the pool store and had the water tested. They gave me CYA and had me add the whole bottle, and they told me to come back in a week or so and have the water retested. After the second test, they gave me more CYA, and I...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

@zea3 Appreciate your thoughts. Yes, cutting holes in the fence to allow the water to escape was one of the many things we have done. It is part of the bigger picture strategy of a) reducing the amount of water coming on the property b) for water that does come on the property, ensure it leaves...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

Ok, as requested, here are some pictures. I tried to take them from a lot of angles, and I tried to highlight the earthwork we have done. They were too big to upload, so here is a link. Edit: pictures are uploading. Please wait 10 minutes after the time of this post. Thanks...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

@Strawberryshortcake Thanks a lot - again - for the reply! So helpful. From an outside perspective, it is easy to blame the builder, but we are giving him the benefit of the doubt. Our situation is quite unique, and I think he did the best he could. We have already done almost as much...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

@zea3 Great tip; thanks! In your experience, when pools flood and waste is vacuumed, how much water is lost? Most of it? Some of it? Our last flood brought a ton of dirt into our pool.

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

@Strawberryshortcake Thanks so much for sharing your story! I am so sorry that happened to you! But, hey, at least we are not alone! I am really glad the earthwork you did helped. Is your filter a cartridge? Does vacuum to waste work with those? If you do not feel like answering, then that is...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

@Jimrahbe Hi Jim, I am grateful for all of the responses here. Indeed, the issue is the area around the ground causing the water and dirt to flow into the pool. We have done a ton of earthwork and berm building. Unfortunately, our pool situation is challenging, because it sits at the low...

    Pool floods: prevention and acceptance

Hi folks, I have already done a lot of forum searching and reading on this topic. :) We built our pool in 2019. In July 2020, we got three inches of rain in one hour, and our pool flooded. After working with our builder and another contractor, we cleaned up the pool, and aside from a light...
