    Backup Valve (Polaris)

Lately, my backup valve is always on. The Polaris never makes the rounds now in open areas as the wheels are trying to pull forward but the backup valve is constantly engaged with strong reverse pressure. Mine is a Pentair Racer (Pentair Racer) and the backup valve looks embedded into the hose...

    Calcium Buildup on Glass Tile

There are services in my area that charge a fortune to remove it from my glass tile. Is there another method that I can perform on my own? Thanks in advance.

    Umbrella install

I gave mine a week and it was fine. My builder said anytime after a week is ok.

    Ledge Lounger Help

Trick is keeping them in place. They say they weigh 39lbs but that wouldn't hold down a chair (at least not in my pool). I went with LL so they could be water filled and stay in place.

Do I Really Need to add close to a gallon of Chlorine daily?

One thing not to forget, check the filter. I have a 2-year-old pool and have to rinse the filters (4 in my filter) every year so I can imagine one that was ignored may look pretty bad. The filters can be cleaned but if they are dried out, broken, worn to the point of uselessness, I would replace...

Neighbor renting out their "Poolside Paradise." Renters keep coming to my house.

Wife and I are on the fence about Swimply. I am ok with it given I would have a lot of restrictions but the bathroom thing is what's making me think twice. I reviewed many pools with quite strict rules which I am in favor of but the bathroom thing is making me cringe. I did check in my area and...

    Pool Ozonators

There are a few threads on this but nothing I can find that definitively says this is a good/bad idea. I have a friend with a pool similar to mine who swears by his but seeing many opinions contrary in different conversations. Can anyone testify as to why this is or isn't suitable? My pool...

    Cantilever Umbrellas and Wind

I went with a standard 10' Cantilever and used 2 black gym bags and put a 50lb bag of river rock in each. I just set the bags on the cross base and it does the job well. Best part is that when I take it down, I remove the entire setup. Cheap and easy.

Under contract now! - New build/quotes in central Florida - Opinions welcome!

Don't skimp on sleeves for umbrellas. Put a couple around the pool where you know you will have patio furniture, etc. They are free (just a hole in the concrete - from my builder) and so much better than dealing with umbrella stands. Check out mine for a reference of what we did in that regard.

    Our Backyard Pool Paradise!

Thanks! That was (is) the plan. We can either relax, cook, watch TV, swim, listen to music or any combination of the aforementioned. Saves so much money vs. pricey vacations and it's available anytime. Family and friends love to come over and enjoy which is really what counts 🏊‍♂️

Thank you!! You are correct on the Queens. We bought these after the 2021 freeze in Houston (we all remember that one) but nothing could have made it through 9 degrees. The queens we bought are a hybrid that are brought from the west very young and grown/raised in the south to create...

    Our Backyard Pool Paradise!

It's Kool Deck. Honestly, we debated using Travertine for the entire area but we decided it was better to use KD as it was great contrast to the pool edge, easy and cheap to repair (if it has issues at some point), cooler on the feet and cheaper (overall cost). It was cheap enough where I had...

    Our Backyard Pool Paradise!

Thank you! I play a moderate amount golf and wanted something simple (not one of those putting areas that take up yard space) and this was great (and cheap). The kids actually like it which I found very cool. :) This is the green I bought -> Putt-A-Bout Grassroots Par Three Putting Green and...

    Our Backyard Pool Paradise!

The family said they wanted a "resort" style setup so I did my best. The key thing is that we did all of this (sans the pool itself and palm trees) on a budget. I scoured to find the best deals and did any electrical, technical and appliance work myself. Example: The sound system was 2 - 50w...

    Texas Pool Design and Build

One thing to add that was free for us was Umbrella holes or sleeves. The only trick is knowing where to put them. In the sun shelf it's easy (smack dab in the middle) but in other places you kinda have to know where you want your umbrellas. It costs the builder nothing to push 1.5" PVC down...

Pool Heater comes on at random times

Excellent! I went to the menu and it was on. I disabled it (moved to "off"). What is odd is that I've had this pool for almost a year and never really had an issue until lately. Either way, I did what you recommended and thank you!!!
