I think I have a leak? 24 Hour Bucket Test

Quick update for anyone who may have a similar issue in the future. Turned out to be a leak at the skimmer. I'm amazed how much water was leaking from that small crack.

I think I have a leak? 24 Hour Bucket Test

Hi All- I noticed an increase in our water bills the last couple of months and just started investigating yesterday. Not sure if the increase was due to more normal usage or something else. The only thing I could find using water at the time was the pool auto filler and decided to do a bucket...

SWG Recomendations with 2 Speed Pump on Low

Hi All- I'm looking to make the switch to salt for my small northern facing Phoenix, AZ 5K play pool. I'm leaning towards CircuPool, but not sure what model or how large I should go (SJ-20 or RJ-16 or ?). Also, will I have issues generating chlorine with my 2 speed pump on low? It's a US...

Pebble Pool Without Waterline Tile and Rolled Bond Beam

Hi All- Not sure if this is the correct forum, but I’m looking for advice regarding pebble pools without water line tiles. We found a home in Phoenix, AZ we love and it checks off 99% of our wants, but the pool has a rolled bond beam and no tile. Is this a deal breaker? The house was built in...

    Pump Motor Issues

Not sure how old the motor is. I assume 2 - 3 years old. The original run cap was a 20mfd @ 370VAC and the closest I found locally was a 25mfd @370VAC. The motor exhibits the same behavior with or without the new run cap installed.

    Pump Motor Issues

Thanks for the suggestion. I opened the back end of the motor and don't see a switch. I did find out the shaft does spin at a slow to medium speed when started, but it looks like there is a thermal protection reset that is shutting it off and restarting.

    Pump Motor Issues

Hi all- I have a 2ez Speed replacement motor that will not start. That shaft spins freely both directions, nothing is clogged in the impeller that I can feel. I replaced the run capacitor and it still tries to start and then shuts down. Video attached... It will try to start, shut down and...

Pump replumb - need temporary solution

Two days of a slightly noisy pump turned into a seized motor this morning... The motor housing was so corroded, two of the bolts sheared off with very little force when I tried to separate it. I was able to cut it out right at the inlet and have enough room for a union. The Intelliflo was a...

Pump replumb - need temporary solution

Thanks guys. I only have an inch and a half clearance behind the motor, so I doubt I'll be able to separate it from the wet end still plumbed. There's about an inch of PVC between the inlet of the pump and the coupling attached to the Jandy valve. What if I cut it right at the pump, clean up...

Pump replumb - need temporary solution

Just when I had finished my second pool equipment upgrade we moved to another house and I get to start over.... Everything is OK for now, but the pump bearings are starting to fail. I'd really like to replace the single speed with a two or variable and temporarily keep the existing plumbing...

Test results after drain & refill

Thanks. I'm definitely still trying to figure out how the sun and heat in Arizona will effect the pool. I have a feeling it will be a bit different from our last place in California.... I'm surprised how quickly the PH climbs. I'm guessing the waterfall and the two lion head water features...

Test results after drain & refill

Thanks. It's back at 5 now. Still trying to figure out what the average daily chlorine consumption is.... Any concerns with the CH at this time?

Test results after drain & refill

We just moved to a new home with an existing pool. The water was clear, but the CYA was 100+ so I did a complete drain and refill last week. Here are my current numbers using a TF-100..... Note I have not added any chemicals in 24 hours and I'm in the process of bringing the TA down from an...

New to me house and pool - Thinking of converting to a SWG.

I just finished moving the family to AZ from CA and have a new to me house and pool. The water is a mess (TA and CYA are off the charts) and will be draining it this week when we have a couple of cooler days. I used 12% liquid chlorine in California and had a shop that carried returnable 4...

    Solar Cover Help

I guess I need a solar cover.... Thanks to this forum, I've successfully upgraded all of my equipment and added solar panels a few month ago. The entire family has loved the 86 - 88+ degree water all summer long. Now, even with temps in the high 90s, I'm loosing a ton of heat each night and...

    Check Valve / Flow Meter

Love mine. I'm using it with a VS pump as well as solar. I run 100% of the return through the solar and it allows me to use a single flow meter after the filter. With the solar bypassed, 25 GPM is 1250 RPMs and 160 watts. With the solar, 25 GPM is 1850 and 415 watts.

Full Equipment Replacement and Adding Solar Questions

We'll I guess maybe I don't have a suction side leak that took most of my day away... I don't think I ever fully primed the pump as I lowered the max RPMs due to the single 1.5" pool suction line shared with the main drain and skimmer. The basket was always 95% full, but there was always a...

Full Equipment Replacement and Adding Solar Questions

Finally up and running over the weekend. Had a scare when the screen on the VS pump wasn't readable when I first powered it up, but it's been fine the last three days. Quick question... Any idea why I'm getting DE through the returns on start up after I remove the Pump strainer cover? It's...
