    Repair of Leaking Jandy Valve

Thanks, Allen Ordered the replacement part and we'll see if it works I am putting a box that had been constructed over the entire valve (I suppose the sunlight can degrade the PVC) and which will prevent anyone kicking that part accidentally. Roaches had been under that box, but I will ensure...

    Repair of Leaking Jandy Valve

I did a search on this forum and found at least 3 posts (listed below) which I believe are relevant to my situation, but I have not enough information about how to proceed on repair, or maybe I am missing it. The valve itself (used to set flow to a gimmick waterfall) doesnt have a visible part...

Back on TFP (from SAC) - Where Do You Shop?

Will do. Should I do a partial drain and refill to get the CYA down in your estimation?

Back on TFP (from SAC) - Where Do You Shop?

Just wanted to follow up after a month of taking over. I note that I don't have "green walls" any longer. My first chlorination with the liquid chlorine test a pool FC = 8 ppm, and the CC test was zero. (I dont believe a slam is necessary.) I did not intend that high a target FC (was aiming...

Back on TFP (from SAC) - Where Do You Shop?

The pool service we used closed up business at end of 2021, so I convinced the missus that we should go DIY, and she agreed because she was not happy we had to do a drain & refill at the request of the pool servicer as he had used tabs (like all these weekly services do) and ran up the CYA level...

    Pool Draining & Refill

Based on this email exchange below, I guess I can do nothing of what I wanted to the plaster surface while the pool is drained. I had this email exchange with our pool service: Me: Hi ____, Give us the name of the drain & refill service, please. One other thing: I cannot have an...

    Pool Draining & Refill

The pool service has a floating dispenser with the 3-inch tablets/pucks in them. I really don't know how the service is doing chlorinating. I can see why the pool guy wants the drain and refill because he can't get the chlorine level up (chlorine lock?). I will look into SWG. I will attempt...

    Pool Draining & Refill

Our pool guy said our cyanuric acid is 300 ppm (or more). Said we need a drain and refill, recommended someone who would do it for $275. Note we acquired the house/pool a little less than 2 years ago (May 2019) and it was tested at 0 ppm CYA. Not sure how rapid an increase it is, but perhaps the...

    No Flow Through Skimmer Return

Excellent analysis, Jim. The weir door had been replaced recently and I thought I had seated it properly. I went out to pull on it and it would not flip down. I re-seated the holding rod and the flow had no problem. I will check on it daily to make sure it does not lose its seating again.

    No Flow Through Skimmer Return

Recently I found that my pump was not holding a prime and it was corrected by increasing the pool water level, which I thought was already sufficient. So I was checking everything and I noticed that while the pump was working (holding prime), there was no flow through the skimmer return. I...

    Pump Flow Stops During Prime

One of the things I did in checking was pulling off the skimmer cover and watching the water flow into the skimmer when the pump started. The flow was going in very well to the skimmer return and then just stopped. But now that I looked at it again, I see the water level was somewhat below a...

    Pump Flow Stops During Prime

The missus told me in the morning she heard strange noises from the pump so turned it off. This was actually about the pump not being primed and also likely that there was no flow. As for no flow, After doing some checks (listed below), I turned on the pump. Because I had the volute cover off...
