    Calcium Hypochlorite tablets

It’s 9,038 litres, so roughly 2,387 US liquid gallons. Cal hypo tablets are 10g I need to confirm the chlorine %. Was checking if any issues before ordering. I’ll see if I can find out re the in-line feeder. Given the issue/aversion to cal hypo tablets, would your recommendation be to use...

    Calcium Hypochlorite tablets

Hi James, The feeder comes built in. It’s a Hydropool SwimSpa. The manual just notes it is a Chlorine feeder. I also spoke with the chemical company that supplies the cal hypo tablets and they said there wouldn’t be a problem. Is there something else I should be aware of? The feeder has not...

    Calcium Hypochlorite tablets

Ok thanks, the feeder is ok to use with cal hypo. The question I had was whether the cal hypo would react with the bleach I have been using in the pool itself, not in the feeder. But it’s ok, I have found out elsewhere that the reaction wouldn’t be an issue in the water. Thanks

    Calcium Hypochlorite tablets

Hi thanks for the response. I don’t use trichlor at all at the moment. As I say I’m using bleach. The cal hypo tabs would be in a standard in line chlorinator not a specialised one. There wouldn’t be any residual chemicals in the feeder. Thanks

    Calcium Hypochlorite tablets

Hi, I’ve been using the bleach method successfully on my SwimSpa and hot tub and I wanted to know if i am going away for a few days whether I can put calcium hypochlorite tablets in the in-line chlorinator? I want to avoid adding too much CYA (current level 40) and therefore I don’t want to...

    Holiday pucks

Hi I currently use the bleach method (switched after Ahhsome flush and refill) for sanitising and I wanted to check what is best to use for if I go away on holiday for up to 15days (could be shorter but max is 15days). Note having a neighbour bleach is not an option. I have read various posts...

So to update. Did my purge with Ahh-some today. No gunk came out at all. Water foamed, ran jets for an hour but nothing to clean up. Is that normal? Away for a couple of days now and then will refill and start the Dichlor/Bleach method. Thanks

Actually have read elsewhere on tfp and know the reason not to use it. I have hard water so it wouldn’t be good. Thanks

Thanks for the quick response. What is the issue with Calcium Hypochlorite? Is it just too strong a chlorine content? Thanks

Hi all, quick follow up. Not yet purged/drained the SwimSpa, waiting for the weather to clear. But ahead of this have been thinking. In the Dichlor/Bleach method when moving to bleach is it possible to use unstabilised (Shock) chlorine granules instead? Is cost the only reason to use bleach...

Many thanks, Haha, let’s hope the chlorine is legit! in terms of applying the bleach to the SwimSpa, do I pour it around the water with the jets flowing and filtration on or is it ok to drop in one place. apologies for the basic questions.

RDspaguy, Very much appreciated, thank you for taking the time. Couple of quick follow ups for when I start the new Dichlor/bleach regime: 1) is this ok to use as for the Bleach Element: LIQUIPAK Sodium Hypochlorite 10 Litres (2x5L) 14-15% Patio Cleaner/Swimming Pool Chlorine LIQUIPAK Sodium...

Final piece, we have a loan softtub while our main hot tub is on order. The soft tub simply has Chlorine and a bit of dry acid added to lower the pH (now 7.5). I decided to just sit in it (normally I go in after the SwimSpa so haven’t until this morning just isolated that tub). Sat for 25mins...

Many thanks, I should have mentioned the dealer I purchased it from, did do a, seemingly thorough, pipe flush before installation. Not sure of the product they use though I did see it being done. With the AhhSome, are you saying to flush it, empty, refill, flush again, empty, refill, and so on...

Many thanks will look in to the Dichlor/Bleach Method. SwimSpa is a new 2020 model Hydropool 19EX. All Hydropools have inbuilt tablet feeders. In terms of biofilm as it’s new I’m guessing it won’t have much if any build up. Would you recommend an ozone/uv system? Hydropool offers one (Pure...

    Red skin

Hi everyone, many thanks for your replies. Yeah I’m thinking it might have to be a deep clean, empty and refill. Re the o-care I will try without it. But I’ve only (since moving to Bromine) started using it and I did use to go red beforehand. In terms of pool maintenance I have been I think...

Also to add, it does seem to be worse with Bromine, could this be that the Bromine sticks to skin more than Chlorine (certainly since using Bromine my skin seems to smell after I leave the water whereas there was no smell after when using). Finally, separately, I find there is generally a more...

Hi, thanks for the response. I haven’t tried a drop test, apologies was a typo on the pH should have read 7.37. I have also checked with an Apera pH20 and get the same readings. Yes it is heated, we have it at 32.0 degrees centigrade. It could possible be the heat, but I don’t find it hot, just...

    Red skin

Hi, I find my skin goes red when I use my SwimSpa (9,000 litres). It’s not itchy and settles after 20-30mins. There are no bumps but just a red colour to my skin. Last readings: bromine (3.0ppm), pH (7.47), TA (96ppm). Tested using poollab 1.0. I moved to bromine as I thought it might be a...
