    Adding bleach to hot tub

Question - can you add bleach to a hot tub when people are in it? Dumb question probably, but I am only used to my 16,000 gallon pool which ill add bleach in the corner away from people. Just wondering if there are a lot of people in the hot tub and I want to sanitize in the middle of it do I...

    Used hot tub first steps

Hi All - I am getting a gently used hot tub today - Jacuzzi J-355. I understand pretty well how to maintain the chemistry, main question is when I get the spa what is the first thing I should do? Should I fill it, use ahhsome, then drain and refill? Also any tips on cleaning solutions to use...

    Cloudy water after big party

Had a big party yesterday. Probably 15 kids in my pool. The water is still pretty cloudy with the pump running all night. Chlorine staying in range and no issues losing overnight. Is this just inevitable after a big party or could there be a filter issue? Thanks!

    Muriatic acid and FC

Hi all- curious, my alkalinity is high and I have been slowly bringing it down by lowering ph , there have been two times now where I have added a larger amount of acid (60oz + ) and the FC is fine but then the next day the FC has dropped real low and the water is slightly cloudy. Could adding...

    High TA Normal ph

Hi guys. My fill water has high alkalinity that creeps back up after I add enough water back. Currently it is at 250 (I added a good amount of fill water when I opened back up my pool this year) My pH is pretty steady around 7.5. Do I have to stress about getting the TA down instantly or...

Just bragging about how clear my pool is

First year opening pool (built my pool last spring). So glad I found this website. I opened this past weekend, below is what my pool looks like after just running the vacuum twice and turning the pump on. No need to "shock", like everyone tells me to, ha! Chlorine was still at a good level...

Thank you! For those cold nights do you have the heater on or just make sure to keep the pump running?

    Open pool a little early?

See below weather forecast for weekend. Any issues opening up the pool this weekend just to have it ready to go when it starts getting warmer? Few days where it dips down then it starts to get warmer mid next week. Would be nice to have it all ready to go to turn up the heat for a nice...

    Water loss over winter

Hi all. First time having a pool over winter. I attached two pictures , first one is from when the pool was closed in November , second one is now. Seem to have lost about 6-8 inches of water over that period. That normal over winter? Obviously I Capped my return lines and skimmer I did...

    Air bubbles - bungee plugs

Thanks - I dumped a gallon of antifreeze in the lines from the pad but maybe ill add more. With the bungee plugs though if I try to blow the antifreeze through the lines it will just open up the plugs and blow the antifreeze out into the pool. I guess I could just not create a tight seal on...

    Air bubbles - bungee plugs

Hi - I closed my pool a week and a half ago. I used the bungee plugs for the return lines. I have an auto cover so they are below the water line. I opened the cover a bit to check something today and I noticed there were very tiny bubbles slowly coming out of of the plugs by the O ring. It...

Leaving water in skimmer when closing

I am using my auto cover as a winter cover so will be leaving water in my skimmer when closing. Is a gizzmo all I need? Or do I need a skimmer faceplate that doesn’t let water in as well? Just wondering if it’s ok to let that “door” that leads into the skimmer frozen in water. Thanks!

Closing - SLAM Level with Autocover?

Do you ever have to add water over the winter due to evaporation? Right now with my water temp down to 63 i am still noticing some evaporation, not much but some.

Closing - SLAM Level with Autocover?

Ok thanks. I was going to close this weekend but right now the water temp is hovering around 63 degrees. After today temps will drop in the 50s as the high so I will probably wait another week until the water temp gets into the 50s. Not like its much work keeping it open another week.

Closing - SLAM Level with Autocover?

Hi all - I asked a similar question before but want to get more clarification. I am using my auto cover as my winter cover - should I still bring the FC up to full SLAM level when closing? Reason I ask is I know a lot of people drain some water after doing this, I won't be draining any water...

    Chlorine Level with Autocover

Ok thanks, just curious. Mine is under coping and at the front edge when the cover is closed there are little gaps in each corner where i can see the water, just wondering if people figure out something to plug these gaps for the winter to not let debris get in.

    Chlorine Level with Autocover

Hi All - closing up pool in the next couple weeks - I read the article on here about closing where it talks about a couple days before closing you bring the FC up to SLAM level, let it drift down over a couple days then continue the process to close. Anyone on here follow this with an...

    Blowing out lines

Thanks. I do have unions before and after the pump. I was planning on connecting into those to blowout the lines but that would send air through the filter and the heater. Can’t I change the setting on the filter off “filter” when I blowout the air?

    Blowing out lines

Hi All - first time closing the pool this year in the next few weeks. Potentially dumb question here. I have the Cyclone blower to blow out the lines. I know I have to blow out the lines to my deck jets, returns, skimmer, main drain. My question is do I bypass all the equipment (pump, filter...
