Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

91F today. I seem to have hit a plateau. It's so hot outside here, that may be as good as it gets. Or at least super slow cooling.

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

I'll check and report back! Planning to run the pump all night with water feature and aerators.

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

I have a love/hate relationship with our trees. They dump a TON of Crud in my pool and I am constantly netting it out, but the whole pool is in shade by 3-4 in the afternoon, and the deep end is shaded by noon. I don't think we've ever gotten out of the 80s before, although I don't regularly...

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

What's funny (not funny) is that my husband and I were talking about chillers on vacation and decided it wasn't worth the $ because our pool normally stays cooler than most due to the shade. 😭

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

The pool. We did run the pump last night to keep them going. They're pretty dinky though. Tonight we'll run the big water feature I didn't think about turning on... it's loud, but runs a good amount of water thru.

You'd have to put so much to have an effect, it's not worth the $.

Any way to cool down water without a chiller?

We came home from vacation to discover our heater on and the whole pool heated to 99F. 🙈 Will it cool or are we doomed to swim in a hot tub the rest of the summer?? We're in Houston, so it's about that hot outside. The pool does get shade a good part of the day.

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

Hmm. It hasn't been sunny all week. I will do another CYA test as soon as we get sone good light. My chlorine finally dropped overnight! Down to 17.5 FC, 0 CC. I will add more today. Thank you for your help! I am learning in leaps and bounds since I fired my pool company... in hindsight, I...

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

I dropped a chlorine puck onto a yellow spot, and low and behold, that spot was perfectly clean when I moved it. Is it possible I don't have enough chlorine?? Leslie's got a higher CYA reading than I did. Maybe they were right.

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

I do have a steel brush, but don't use it as much because it is hard to push. 😬 I will use it today. Vitamin C did nothing. What would cause calcium staining if my CH is only 325? Is there anything to do for that? I can probably get a chlorine puck from a neighbor to try that.

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

I can't get a good picture... looks fine in the picture, not to the eye. No, I do not have a chlorinator, but I also did not retest after adding the amount recommended by the pool calculator. I should have. That said, it was 22 yesterday, and 22 this morning. Zero change. I have vitamin C...

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

My filter pressure went way up overnight but still no chlorine loss. Yellow is concentrated in areas, but has spread to a light yellow most places on the bottom. pH per my test this morning was maybe a 7.6. I lowered before I started the slam. TA is 110. I can't remember CH, but it was within...

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

I made a signature! I tried to take a picture, but it's not picking up the yellow way down at the bottom of the pool. I filled in the #s you asked for above. I did add phosphate remover yesterday, as they were over 1,000 per Leslie's test. I'll update after testing today. The algae looks like a...

Slamming for Algae not Going as Expected

Hi! So I replaced water and brought my CYA down to 50, reduced my pH to 7.2, and brought the chlorine level up to 20. Ran the filter overnight and today noonish the chlorine is a 22, with 0.5 CC. That means nothing is happening, correct? I brushed yesterday, and back washed the day before...

Easier way to test for high levels of chlorine?

I have one. Which test is that? I only have the FAC. And I thought it seemed pretty subjective as to how many drops it took to be "perfectly" clear.

Easier way to test for high levels of chlorine?

Our swim season will be over when I do the drain, as the water will be colder, so I wanted to wait a few more weeks. I do have the TF-100 kit. It just seemed subjective as to how many drops are needed to get it "perfectly" clear. Then it turned pink again after sitting.

Easier way to test for high levels of chlorine?

Hi! I need to drain some water out of my pool because my CYA is way too high (120 was my best guess testing today, and Leslie's said it was even higher). That said, until I drain, I need to maintain higher chlorine levels. I did the FC test today, but didn't feel super confident in my results...
