Is it time to switch from a single spend pump to a variable speed?

Thanks for the reply! We do have high electric bills but in the process of getting solar to hopefully offset that. I'll prob keep this pump for a couple years (especially with the prices of pumps nowadays) and maybe change it out in a few years.

Is it time to switch from a single spend pump to a variable speed?

For all of you saying to switch to VS (which we def want to), would you do it if your pump was only 3 years old? The old owners of our house replaced our pool pump before we closed instead of giving us a credit 😡 and it's a single speed.

Pool Contractor Says "NO" Glass Wateline Tile, REALLY ?

I was given the same push back from all pool builders I spoke with. "Too hard to maintain, will pop off, too expensive". I went with my gut and I love it. I will say tho, I clean it 5x a week. But I love it and have no regrets. Go with your gut it's your pool, not theirs. I will also say it took...

    FinestFinish Mini vs Stonescapes Minipebble

We have finest finish. I was pushing for stonescapes as the name is bigger, but my plaster company uses finest finish much more. We have had it now 2 years with no issues, looks great and feels even better. I have no regrets

    Replacing Pool Decking-DFW, Texas

We had the same situation last year. Old kool deck that was chipping away and looking bad. We had to take it down to the concrete and have it resurfaced. Total cost was 6500.

Glass Tile Cleaner Suggestions - New Pool

That set up is exactly what I use for my glass tile. Hasn't stopped calcium build up, but does clean the tile well from crud and dirt.

Repairing missing grout on spa wall

Moved from here. We have some missing grout as well on the tile on the spa wall. We have the name of the grout but have been too apprehensive to try to fix this. Do we need to drain the pool if it's above the water line to fix or can we just do it while we are in the pool??

Pool deck crack only when wet??

Hi everyone, we recently had our deck resurfaced (in March) and we had our first real rain of the season this weekend and I noticed a few areas it appeared to have cracks on the deck. I know they cracks weren't there the day before as I was in the pool all day and would have seen them. The next...

    Kool deck

We had kool deck when we bought our house, however it was peeling everywhere and looked a mess. Not sure how old it was, but we just resurfaced the entire pool deck. Companies out here (Palm springs) arnt doing kool deck anymore as it doesn't hold up in our climate, but what we resurfaced with...

    Maintaining Glass Mosaic Tile

It costs more to bead blast glass tile. I got quotes between 800-1100$. But all of my tile is glass tile. I guess they use a different (more expensive) medium when blasting glass tile to not damage the glass and take away the gloss

    Maintaining Glass Mosaic Tile

I have tried everything to keep my glass tile free of calcium build up, but it’s impossible if you have a water feature such as a spillway which I do from the spa to the pool (which I can’t turn off). I don’t have any calcium build up at the water line or anywhere else, just the spill way. I...

    Wasps around pool and backyard...

So I don’t have a problem with wasps but I do with bees. It doesn’t help that I wear a sweet scented tanning lotion (and no, I won’t stop wearing it as it produces the best tan!). Just this week I started googling ways to deter bees and apparently they hate lavender and peppermint smells. So I...

    Alternative to spa spillover

We have the same issue with no way of turning off the spillover (that we know of). Also trying to reduce calcium scale. Would adding the extra plumbing to have a valve to turn off spa mode be plumbing that’s done underground or above ground (at the equipment pad, per say). Finished our pool...

    Vacuum frequency

Hi neighbor! This year the winds have been unbelievable. I live in north Palm Springs area so we get a good grunt of it. I have a robot I’ve been throwing in 2-4x a week, and also have a pool guy come twice a week and vacuum. It’s not so much I’m worried about staining however, just can’t stand...

    Tile grout

I noticed there’s a few spots in the pool tile on the waterline and the spa spillover that there is missing grout. Not fully missing but the tile isn’t grouted completely around the tile. Is this something I should worry about?? And if so is it something I can fix or should I have my tile guy...

Is it possible to re-do pool decking without tons of debris going into the pool? What deck materials do you all recommend?

It’s similar to cool deck. Supposed to last longer. The cool deck out here (Palm Springs) doesn’t last long due to the heat and our water so most companies arnt applying it anymore. Honestly I was freaking out the whole time, and couldn’t wait for it to be over as we recently had our pool...

Is it possible to re-do pool decking without tons of debris going into the pool? What deck materials do you all recommend?

We just redid our pool deck that had cool deck on it. The pool becomes a literal mess, but only took about 2 days of vacuuming and lots of chlorine and it was back to normal. The company didn’t cover the pool at all as they “said” that it becomes more messy and doesn’t stay put and you can’t run...

What's your PERFECT pool temp? What's the minimum for you to jump in?

Our water is 75 right now and I’ve been going in. It’s a little chilly but it’s sunny here in Palm Springs! Ready for the water to warm up a bit more though!
