Using TSP to clean cartridge filter

I see everywhere to use 1 cup per 5 gallons of TSP. So if using dry TSP, how many ounces are in 1 cup? I know 8 oz fluid =1 cup? Or am i over thinking it and just fill a cup's worth of dry TSP per 5 gallons?

    Bromine shock level

Doing a startup on a 350 gallon Fiberglass spa. Using Sodium Bromide rerserve/2 step method. Using 7.5 Bleach for shock. ? I put in 5.7 oz of Bleach last night as I didn't realize that Bromine is 2.25 times more than chlorine. Today using FAS/DPD 10ml, 13 drops which is 6.5 x 2.25=14.6 Bromine...

Using Bromide salt and chlorine as oxidizer

The all chlorine method might be too time comsuming for my son. Seems like the pool BBB a little easier as you don't have to deal with CC as sun takes care of that as long as FC/CYA is at minimum. I may have him try Sodium Bromide reserve with Renew oxidizor. Thank you for your reply.

Using Bromide salt and chlorine as oxidizer

My son just got a 350 gallon fiberglass spa. Been reading about the 2 step 3 step method using Soduim Bromide reserve and liquid chlorine as oxidizer. I was told by the guy (seemed pretty knowlegable) that sold the spa that Chlorine used as an oxidizor is too aggressive and can where parts in...

    Borate Level

I have tested my Borate level with Taylor and Lemotte test strip. Hard to tell what level I'm at using both strips. Looks like I'm in between 30 and 50. Had some flash flooding a few months back and had to drain the pool a few inches. Should I add any more Borates?

    How long to run pump?

I have an in ground pool (10,000 gallons) with spa (500 Gallons) built in. Have 1.4HP Single Speed motor. I saw in other thread that pump only needs to run 3 or 4 hours. So I been running pump around 4 .5 hours a day for last few weeks. No issues at all. Spa overflows into pool during normal...

advice on replacing noisy 1.4 HP motor

Thanks for you reply. You think its ok to install VS motor onto a 21 year old pump although changing out the drive train pump parts? Or do I need to replace the pump?

    Borates. Better practices

Anyone else notice after adding Borates that their TA doesn't move downward any more after adding MA ? My TA stays around 70. Before Borates I constantly had to add Baking Soda after adding MA. My Borates are currently at 50. Been using them for 3.5 months.

Yeah I saw that in a Borate forum but wasn't sure how true it was. Seems to be true so far. I'd rather add it less often though. Thanks for your reply.

I'm from the Sacramento,CA area. I've been using TFP since 2010. I have a 15k pebble tec , Non-SWCG Pool (built 20 years ago). I recently added Borates to control PH drift. Instead of adding muriatic acid every 2 days I can go around 6 days before adding (although i have to add more acid)...

2 pool stores ran the Waterlink Spin test and came back with the same results for CH (200).My Taylor reagents came up with 350 (ran around 4 or 5 times with new reagents). 1 pool store ran the Taylor reagents and came up with 420 (added an extra 5 drops once water turned blue). Any idea why...
