Thanks Guys! The sound isnt terrible. It was silent before. I emailed about the warranty already. The internet is full of stories of Pentair only honoring a 60 day warranty for self installs.

    Name that booster pump sound

Thanks for the reply. I was pretty sure it was the bearings. Do the bearings have to be replaced now? Will they do more damage to the pump? Or is it a matter of tolerance to the annoying sound? Any videos on the Boost Rite(LA-MS05 ) repair? Or any booster pump bearing replacement? Its a...

    Name that booster pump sound

I replaced this booster last year. It is a Pentair LA-MS05. It was whisper quiet for almost a year. In the last day or so its started making an ugly sound. I noticed the the flex tube on the top had bubbled by the pump. The bubble in the flexible pvc was restricting water flow. I do not...

Old Heat Pump - When to fix vs replace

I put a new capacitor with the same rating as the old one. I can turn on the heater. I hear it start to hum. I can then use a stick and push the fan. The fan will stay running. swamp rat -there isn’t a ton left of the fan motor name plate. I was able to make out 1.6 amps as well this...

Old Heat Pump - When to fix vs replace

I replaced the capacitor. That didn’t fix the issue. Fan still doesn’t start on its own. does that mean it needs a new fan motor? Anyone want to link one that would work for an old raypak rhp 115.

Old Heat Pump - When to fix vs replace

I was able to push start the fan yesterday. I think that confirms its the capacitor. Took me a while to figure out which one i need online. Wanted to have it on hand so I only have to take it apart once. Think I found the right one on Amazon for under $15 with free returns. Looks like its...

Old Heat Pump - When to fix vs replace

Hi - We have a RayPak RHP 115 from 2005. It was working at the beginning of the season. The fans are no longer turning on. My best guess is its the capacitor. I have not taking it out to test. I just noticed this weekend it wasnt turning on. How long should a heat pump last? 15 years...

Help me slam my green pool

Vitamin c seems to be the answer. Since it’s everywhere an acid treatment seems to be in my future. Can I wait til end of August? Or is this something I should take care of now?

Help me slam my green pool

I jumped in to get a closer look. He basically dug ruts in the pool. Underneath was white. I can replicate what he did with a screw driver. I cannot get a sample. I can scrap the plaster out. Maybe it’s a stain.

Help me slam my green pool

So I had someone from a local builder swing by to look at replacing the plaster, coping, deck and patio. He said the plaster is old and needs replacing, its milling in the deep end etc. He took his big pipe he was testing the coping with and scraped off the material I have been trying to kill...

I assume concrete showing means its time to re-plaster. When we had black algae last year it was only it a couple of spots. None of these spots shown had black algae or were this color. Maybe some more pictures will help... Shallow end to deep end.

    Expanding a pool deck

Fill in and expand. We need more deck area somewhere, somehow. And it needs to not look terrible. I wouldve pulled the trigger on the $8k expansion if i didnt think it would look mismatched.

    Expanding a pool deck

I had not thought of it that way! I like the idea of cutting off the neck, laying new concrete around the pool, new concrete neck and then spraying Sundek or something on old plus new pool deck to match them. Keep the ideas coming!

Hi Guys - We bought our house 4 years ago. We have a small/medium sized brick patio with a tiny walkway to the large pool with a tiny aggregate pool deck. There is mulch everywhere. There isnt even enough room for lounge chairs. The original owner put rock around the pool deck trying to fix...
