    Plumbing question

Thanks for all the answers. In fact just putting as cap over the pipe without gluing has stopped the leak since it was only a trickle.

    Plumbing question

yes, there is a hot tub, but their are valves on the other pipes that control the flow to/from the hot tub.

    Plumbing question

Thanks. Here is a picture of the system. I see other random pipes coming out of the ground and serving no obvious purpose so perhaps someone redid the plumbing at some point and just left some old pipes in place. I think I'm going to go ahead and cap this pipe to stop the leak.

    Plumbing question

Thanks Jim. I'm just double-checking with the company that did the work on the pump to make sure they didn't cut the pipe back for any reason then I'll go ahead and cap it. The guy that did that work also fixed a leak in another pipe so perhaps that has subtly changed the flows and caused...

    Plumbing question

The pipe has always been there but never overflowed before now. I think the black thing in the photo is just a trick of the light as it is just a white pipe filled with water - no gaskets or anything. There is indeed a lot of gunk around the inside of the pipe.

    Plumbing question

I recently had a new motor fitted to my intelliflo pump and since then I have had a trickle of water overflowing from the small white pipe that can been in the attached photo. To help diagnose the issue I have a couple of questions: - Is a pipe like that a standard part of pool plumbing and if...

    Pentair Intelliflo Over Power Alarm

Thanks. Yes, its a standalone pump. I reset the breakers and that didn't help. I think the voltmeter suggestion is beyond my capabilities so I have got an engineer coming out next Thursday.

    Pentair Intelliflo Over Power Alarm

Just got an Over Power Alarm on my Pentair Intelliflo and it won't start. Is there any troubleshooting I can do or I need to call a pentair engineer out ?

Yes, I think I will give it a try.

    IC40 - No lights

Thanks. That's my guess too but I think its probably still worth checking the power. Totally different issue: Assuming I do need a replacement I just saw this on Amazon...

    IC40 - No lights

Thanks. I'm not very handy with electrical stuff - what would I precisely need to do to test the DC volts out of the power center (besides getting hold of a volt meter) ? I attach a photo of my power center.

    IC40 - No lights

I noticed that my Intellichlor IC40 today was totally dead with no lights. I checked obvious stuff like fuses but everything seemed fine. I suspect the cell may have gone bad as its quite old (installed 10 years ago but probably only 5 years of actual service). I would welcome any...

    Pool Pump Suction

I just tried with a pressure bladder and that did the trick. Thanks! (The pressure bladder disintegrated in the process which I don't suppose is supposed to happen but it only cost $10 and I suppose at least its did it job)

    Pool Pump Suction

Thanks for the suggestions! I checked the pump and the impeller spins fine and is clean. In fact I now think the problem is neither the pump nor the filter as when I set the pump to suck from the hot tub rather than the pool skimmer the water flow is fine. As soon as I set it back to suck...

    Pool Pump Suction

We had a bad storm in our area last Friday which dumped loads of leaves and branches in the pool. Took hours to clean up! The baskets both in the skimmer and next to the pump were jammed tight with leaves and twigs. My problem is that now the suction generated by the pump is way down...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

Thanks. I will not be cutting or shorting the Red and Black wires any time soon!

    IC40 Cell Light Off

Great info - thanks. That probably explains why the salt light came on after I disabled the temperature sensor - the cell now thinks the water temp is 75 degrees when its actually way lower. Adding more salt fixed that issue. Is it a correct understanding that the flow switch is just a...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

That works great. Thanks! Just out of curiosity I see the other 2 wires (Red and Black) are for flow level. I changed the sensor because of a problem with the salt level level being constantly on and it fixed that issue. Do you know which wires control the salt reading ?

    IC40 Cell Light Off

thanks. I will check tomorrow. I added a new sensor a few months ago and that definately had Thanks. I will take a look tomorrow I added a new sensor some months ago and it indeed had Red Black Green and White wires. I seem to remember there are only 3 input wires on my older model ic40...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

Hi Jim, In case you are still monitoring this thread: We've had a few days of warm weather and my pool thermometer show the water well above 52 degrees now and the cell light is still off so I am planning to implement your suggestion. To clarify - I just need to cut the green and white wires...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

Thanks. Mine is an older version (v2) and it does not have that 'Cold water' light. I finally managed to find the manual online and find: "Cell: Shows the status of the IECG. • Green (flashing): The IECG needs to be inspected. The blades may have calcium buildup. The IECG is not producing...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

It about 10 years old but I did not use it for about half of that time and it still shows 60% cell life. I just watched it for 5 mins (I live such an interesting life!) and it never came on even at 80%. I'm wondering about water temperate as it quite like is below 52F (which I just read in...

    IC40 Cell Light Off

My IC40 is an older model and I don't see an indicator for temperature like I see in the manual for the later models so I wonder if water temperature is the reason ?

    IC40 Cell Light Off

I have an Intelliclor IC40 which til today had run trouble free for several months. I just noticed that the cell light is off which (If I understand the manual correctly ) means it is not generating. The manual indicates that this most likely means that it is an off cycle but even though I...

    Pentair or Generic SWG ?

I have the timer on the SWG set so that it is only ever on when the pump is on (The pump is a Pentair inteliflow with its own timer and I have it on for 12 hours a day and the SWG for an 8-hour window within that). If nothing goes wrong the SWG can never be on when the pump is off. I...
