Going with Yellow out. I give up

I'm guessing 1.2 lbs is about a gallon of 10%

Going with Yellow out. I give up

I have had yellow algae, even vacuumed by hand with a siphon hose to get every stinking bit of it out for a week. scrubbed, removed stairs and cleaned, backwahsed and maintained minimum 22 ppm on chlorine. Even added DE to the sand filter. Still find small amounts each day. I have sterilized...

Thanks to TFP I don't know what I am looking At

Just went to 22 on chlorine after brushing and removing/scrubbing stairs. Plan to keep it there tomorrow also. My OCLT has been showing no loss, that's what has me baffled. SLAMing anyway to MA levels. I will let you know. I have been following everything and doing everything as per this site...

Is dead algae medium to dark brown?

Thanks to TFP I don't know what I am looking At

Thanks Kelly. See the problem is I have been above SLAM levels. I have no chlorine loss and CC 0. I put in the extra chlorine just because I wanted to make sure I did not have algae. Just being paranoid I guess. Pool is super clear and nothing is slippery

Thanks to TFP I don't know what I am looking At

Stupid questions. Thanks to TFP I have never had algae so I don't know what I am looking at, but I have brown dust splotches on the bottom of my fresh water pool. Here is the problem: since I don't know what it looks like, I can't tell if it is just dust from the last few days of rain (Oklahoma)...

Algae or pollen or something else?

Just as a point of general knowledge, if chlorine levels/CYA are consistently maintained, along with all other chemistry, would the stairs still be a problem for algae? I have Wedding Cake stairs and I have worried about them, but if I am at 50% borates, 7 ppm chlorine, 35-40 CYA, 100 TA, etc...

    Borates effect other chemistry?

Hi oh Silver :) Good help is hard to find and I appreciate it. Keep it up! Done. Thanks for wink, wink. Nudge nudge :)

    Borates effect other chemistry?

I just found and was reading after seeing the big SUPPORT TFP in the menu. Sorry I was such an idiot and never looked. Thanks for the info.

    Borates effect other chemistry?

So I assume there is something other than membership per year fee? Send me so info. Don't take this wrong, but how it is used, how is it accounted for, is it overseen? No offense, but I don't want to buy your chlorine :)

    Borates effect other chemistry?

That's what I was looking for. Thanks Leebo, I knew there was something that was a little off. pH is no biggie. Just wanted to understand what I was using :)

    32% CYA Subtracted from TA?

Since I know I can trust the info I get from this group I wanted to throw something out that I was told yesterday, but had never heard of before. I was told that to get an accurate TA number you need to subtract 1/3 or your CYA number. So if I have a 75 TA and a 45 CYA I actually only have a TA...

    Borates effect other chemistry?

I read on some posts that the calculators were not accurate with recommendation/levels when 50 ppm borates was involved. Just looking to verify that TFP calculator figures in the borate calculations correctly.

    Borates effect other chemistry?

New to posting, but I have been following (and using) the info on this site since I uncovered my pool. Sparkling water, never a problem and great testing ( Taylor 2005). Decided to go the Borax method to reach 50 ppm and I love it! I can't believe how complicated (and expensive) some sites make...

    Borates effect other chemistry?

Moved from here. Sort of off the thread, but I have now reached 50 ppm with my borates. Water looks and tests great! My question is does the 50 ppm borates throw off any other test results? Do I need to compensate anything comparable to the CYA/Chlorine relationship?
