    What is this thing?

In two years I've done nothing with this thing and I'm now wondering what it is. Would like to put it on the list of things to remove along with the in-line chlorinator. It has the months of the year around the larger circle and says "Turn off pump before removing cartridge".

Long metal stick in heater header where I removed drain plug

In Austin and out of fear of losing power, I pulled all the drains plugs I could, opened the diverters, and allowed the pool equipment to drain as best I could. As I finished unscrewing the drain plug in the heater header, I noticed this metal stick fall into the snow. What is it? Is it in...

    PH always floats high

TA is at 65 right now. I picked up liquid chlorine at 12.5% yesterday so I'm going to start balancing w/o the cal hypo and hopefully that will make it easier. I downloaded the TFP app as well. Was a bit surprised when it said I should have my FAC at 9ppm since my CYA is at 80. I've normally kept...

    PH always floats high

Oh, that's interesting. I didn't know that. I will try that as well.

    PH always floats high

No, the valve that controls the return flow between the pool and the spa is manual. It is set so that a little more goes to the pool and enough that the spillway actually "spills" instead of dribbles

    PH always floats high

Thank you for the response. To answer your questions - My CH is 275ppm. - regarding aeration, the tub (not hot because the heater valve is toast!) spills over to the main pool when the pump is running, so yes? - bleach, well last year I didn't know any better and when I opened up my pool this...

    PH always floats high

This summer I switched to using Calcium Hypochlorite as my shock. I was previously using the 6-in-1 blue crystals from Home Depot but that caused by CYA to reach levels that forced me to drain 2/3 of my pool and start over. This summer it seems like every time I check the chemicals, the pH is...

Trying to identify Hayward Pool Heater to replace bypass

Yeah, I noticed the "(21)" in the documentation as well. Don't know what to say about that. The sticker clearly starts with "31"

Trying to identify Hayward Pool Heater to replace bypass

Model H400IDL SN 31255427 The link you provided went to the Hayward website but said "File not found" I tried this link https://www.hayward-pool.com/shop/HaywardStaticContent?catalogId=10053&langId=-7&pageName=RES-Warranty&storeId=10701#s_enter_info But it says that my SN is invalid for the...

Trying to identify Hayward Pool Heater to replace bypass

If I understand your question correctly... There is no way for the plumbing to bypass the heater. The filter output goes directly into the heater, a pipe comes back out of the heater (this is all the bypass valve header? apologies if incorrect terminology) and to my plumbing return path. Now I...

Trying to identify Hayward Pool Heater to replace bypass

Purchased a house February 2019 that has a pool. Pool guy that I had come out to inspect the equipment said the heater control panel was broken. I finally get around to fixing that and low and behold it's not broken! But once the heater fires up, tons of noise and significant vibration in...
