Black algae again.. Shock and Polyquat 60?

I have a full metal stainless brush but these black algae spots are hard to break with the pole and metal brush end. It might sound crazy but I will leave the FC this weekend at normal levels and take a metal brush to these algae spots on a personal level. Thanks for the suggestion.

I have the taylor 2006. I use it for more than just the pool. I am on a well water system and I use to measure my FC on a chlorine injection system. No strips here :whip:

Black algae again.. Shock and Polyquat 60?

SLAM... never heard of it, thank you for the link. I just read about it and it makes sense. Last time this happened I would shock the pool and 24 hours later the chlorine would drop to normal. I couldn't figure out why that was happening but now it makes sense. I think I will wait and SLAM...

Aquacal Pool heater carnage. Fire pics!!!

Glad it helped. When I bought my heater they were including a 5 year parts and labor. I believe the new warranty is now 2 years labor and 7 years parts and 7 years compressor. If you bought your heater from a authorized dealer the parts should of been included. Did they change your valve...

Stabilizer dry vs Liquid, effects on SWG ? (damages SWG)

I went to a Leslies Pool store to get some dry Stabilizer (CYA). The employee told me not to use dry CYA in a pool with a SWG. The dry CYA damages the SWG. He suggested I buy the liquid CYA. I have used the liquid CYA before for small adjustments and for its convenience but it cost twice as...

Hayward Filter lost its Straps, cord, strings around filter?

I figured the straps just keep the pleats open and lined up for max filtration. I would replace it and save it as a backup as "waste" suggested but I have a backup no name filter for just that. Three filters would be a bit much. Thanks guys / gals.

Hayward Filter lost its Straps, cord, strings around filter?

My Hayward cartridge filter has managed to lose those straps around the filter that hold the pleats in place. I bought the filter aprox 11/07 or its 2 years old. It has no tears and works well. Is it time for a replacement due to the straps missing?

Large drop in Calcium Hardness..Should I correct it?

Large drop in Calcium Hardness..Should I correct it?

You are very observant. My CYA and Salt were high. My CYA was @120 and my Salt was at 3200 before the rain started. I took advantage of the rain. I dumped the water and got my CYA to 80 and my salt dropped to 2700. I added 50lbs of NaCL and brought it up too 3200. Unexpectedly I lost my CH...

Large drop in Calcium Hardness..Should I correct it?

We have had lots of rain down here in FL. and my latest test with a taylor 2006 and the local pool store confirmed my CH @ 180. Last season my CH was 320 but I have taken a lot of water out of the pool in the last 3 weeks. I used the pool calculator and the it gives me a CSI of -0.27...

Hayward Sunray suction Pool Cleaner opinions ?

Hi I was looking at the very affordable Hayward Sunray Pool Cleaner. I need a basic pool cleaner for minimal dirt and a small amount of leaves. My pool is kidney shaped, 15,000gal, plaster, 3 steps and two swim outs, with a 1.5hp pump and a Hayward clear plus c1200 filter. I have a dedicated...

Aquacal Pool heater carnage. Fire pics!!!

I spoke with tech support today at aquasoft. They transferred me to the tech support that helps the technicians on the field. I asked the question about the rise in pressure after the technician repaired the unit and set the bypass valve. The support staff couldn't give me a solid answer on...

Aquacal Pool heater carnage. Fire pics!!!

That makes sense. The pressure is there but the flow or volume of water is lacking. The best I can do at this point is run it hard and see if the problem comes back. I only hope I didn't stress out the compressor and shorten its life span. In my mind I thought I had placed the valve in the...

Aquacal Pool heater carnage. Fire pics!!!

Update on the Aquacal service I called on Monday and they took down my info and asked me for my install date. My install date was two years and one month but I kept my mouth shut and hoped for the best. The Aquacal manual notes labor is only covered for two years. The rep on the phone stated...

Aquacal Pool heater carnage. Fire pics!!!

The relay is shot. The pole where the load wire was connected is loose. On the plus side I just called aquacal and they said parts and labor were covered for 5 years and because this is my first call they will not charge me the warranty transportation fee. Funny how a five year warranty on...

I am going to turn the pool pump on tonight and run it all night. According to the news this low should only be a one night occurrence. I just checked the pool water temp and it is 63F. Far from freezing I would say. Thanks all.

Hard freeze warning in South Florida... Heat Pump question.

Hello. There is a hard freeze warning for the Palm Beach, Florida area tonight. Temperatures are expected to drop below 32F. I have a AquaCal heat pump and I noted that it has a winterizing plug allowing you to drain the water. I read the manual and they suggest that light freeze can be...
