    Sweep line leak (in wall)

Update: took a closer look under water - there is a crack in the upper half of the 1/2” pipe just where the pipe connects to the threaded socket for the sweep. The wall socket is not aligned well with the pvc pipe and connects at an angle with the pipe (hence the crack). Presumably badly...

    Confirming Leak in Skimmer Box

Hold on, did you test for bubbles when the skimmer was dry? test for suction leak with the pool level higher and skimmer full. Then if you have bubbles that means suction leak. I can’t use my skimmer valve to completely eliminate suction from skimmer, it just increases or decreases the ratio of...

    Confirming Leak in Skimmer Box

Yeah so that proves a suction leak and you have to repair the plumbing. Im thinking it’s coincidence that only one return jet has bubbles; if there’s bubbles in one, and through the pump, the air is coming from the skimmer line.

    Pool heaters.

Sounds like my pool in size, mine probably 25k gallon. Using a natural gas raypak 336a, but always solar when available. In terms of capacity is definitely does the job.

Guidance on regrout of stone coping

I am facing the exact same issue with my 70s pool - thanks for the tip on S Mortar. Is there any consideration when applying mortar to the Inside pool wall where the tile line should go? I need new tiles after I m done;) Joe good luck and let us know how that project goes. Lars

    Sweep line leak (in wall)

Hey guys, Ive located a leak in my 50 year old in ground pool where the sweep line connects. I dug up the soil and exposed the back of the wall. Water gushes out when the booster pump is on, the leak is not visible and the pipe is otherwise intact. Perhaps a 5% pressure loss, the sweep still...

    Replaster and plumbing

Yes, I agree we need to figure out where the leak comes from, to begin. I will do some detective work to trace the leak, thank you for the link, very helpful! I don’t think it’s evaporation - the level drops winter time with the vinyl cover on it. It also looks like the ground has shifted next...

Agree, that makes sense. I’m requesting quotes right now and hopefully I can do it all at once. If not, I’ll do the most invasive work up front and defer the rest.

Thank you for the warm welcome. I have put a few pictures up, I have to check but I think it’s 20,000 gallons or so - I’ll verify all that info and add to my profile. Thank you for the links, I’ll check it out.

    Replaster and plumbing

Thank you both. Replacing equipment later is a good option to have, because, right, budget. Yes, the pool leaks and I need to top it up every two months or so. I have no idea which part is leaking;/. And, I was not going to pressure test since I figured that if I replace both plaster and all...

    Replaster and plumbing

Thanks! So the decision to go AWG should probably be made now, things will move around in the shed. Is AWG mostly personal preference, or also a major impact on maintenance? It’s a sand filter. Including photos of the pool equipment antiques I inherited from the previous owner;) the gas heater...
