Weird foam block in Tiger Shark TSQC

Hi, Brand: Hayward Vac Model: TSQC 2012? I have an older 2nd hand TigerShark here that has an odd piece of foam on top of the motor unit wedged between the motor unit and the vacuum body and on one side. The engineer in me cannot figure out why it's there and it doesn't show up in the online...

    Another year another leak

When they come out to close the pool, I see them adding antifreeze into the returns but I don't know how much. In my area, in winter we don't see sub 20°f much but it bottomed out at -6°f for a day. Everything I wrote about the root-cause is speculation. They could have dropped the plug when...

    Another year another leak

https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/mysterious-leak.249143/#post-2182735 Last year I had a leak in a skimmer line at an elbow, this year there's another leak in the same area but on the return costing me an inch a day. Both hairline cracked under the elbows in the same place. I have the pool...

Price check on a winter cover?

Precisely, an exact copy of the old cover from the same manufacturer that made it in 2001.

Price check on a winter cover?

Thanks, not sure if installed means it's installed on the pool the day of close or all drawn up and shipped to my door regardless of close. The manufacturer had the old drawing. So I don't have the ship out the old one to be sketched/CAD. The cover will be 22 years old this winter. I'm not...

Price check on a winter cover?

I'm looking at $5400 for a mesh winter cover, 2'x2' grid/anchor, optional coping shield, 20x40 rectangle, no step water feature provisions. Dealer only USA manufacturer. This is about $1500 more than I expected. Shopping around takes some considerable time. What should I expect to pay-ish?

Superflow VS, firemans switch, and a Raypak heater 206A

Hi, I had a single speed pump controlled by an Intermatic P1353ME 3-circuit with a fireman's wire to the Raypak. The Intermatic has a timed cooldown function that's (was) reasonably fool proof. How can I do this with a recently upgraded Superflow VS? There's not much documentation out there on...

    Mysterious leak

Yeah it was shocked two days ago. Haven't checked the levels today but I'm sure the FC is about to vanish. I just put another gallon of chlorine in it. I'll see what they say tomorrow and start refilling it. Thanks much for your help.

    Mysterious leak

Appreciate that Jim. Not too shabby for a pool newbie if I do say so myself:cool:. I have to ask this. I'm going to call the pool service to come and do the repair. Do you think I should plug the skimmer line, refill the pool, and throw the solar cover on it then run it off the 2nd skimmer for...

    Mysterious leak

You guys have no idea how grateful I am for these quick responses. Thank you. I found the leak. There has always (since I bought the house in 2019) been a weird dimple in the ground between the questionable skimmer and the equipment pad. I had always assumed that at one point perhaps a dead bush...

    Mysterious leak

Hi, Gunite 20x40 salt pool My pool failed the bucket test. Long story short, I drained the pool to just below the skimmer inlets and shut off all three suction valves (two skimmers and one drain). One skimmer holds water, the other does not. I poured water into the skimmer that doesn't hold...

Price check on a new Raypak 406A Heater

Hi, What should I expect to pay the pool company for a new natural gas Raypak Digital 406A replacement? There are a few flavors of the unit including cast bronze exchanger headers and nickel coatings, what's best? Online prices are all over the place from $1900 to $3700. Thanks

Intellichlor - How low can you go?

Thank you for pointing out the data on the CYA/FC relation, this is my first opening. Trying to get a feel for the balance swings and experimenting with the output setting on the IC40. I'm targeting the Intellichlor IC40 recommended stats but I understand that some of these are different than...

Intellichlor - How low can you go?

Easy question perhaps. My TC and FC are showing around 4-4.5ppm not concerning at all but I want to try and get it down to 3ppm or so. Started the season 4 four weeks ago at 40% (after the shock settled down) on the Intellichlor and now I'm down to 8% with the same TC and FC reading. For the...

    Repurposing a Cover-Pools automatic cover...?

I have an old automatic cover with a snapped rope and some pretty crusty mechanics and electrical. I've never seen it operate as I have not had the house long. I've done enough research to know how to fix it and I'm good with a wrench. But I don't want to deal with the hassle of tuning the...

They put gizmos in the skimmers but I haven't verified this yet. Waiting on my loop lock pry bar order to arrive so I can remove the straps and double check.

Had my pool closed for the first time - Please advise on checking their work

The pool company is telling me I need to store the filters in the garage though ajw22's advice seems more logical. Do they think that they freeze and get damaged? I assume not since in New Jersey (aj's location) you guys get much harder winters than we do in Missouri.
