What do you use to bond your pool pump?

Thanks, glad to know we're at least doing it right. I suppose I could just try to find a new O ring for the little black plug piece, but it just seemed like it was set far in, and not necessarily a normal O ring. It could just have been thicker. I just hate to pay $30 when only one piece is broken.

What do you use to bond your pool pump?

This is our third season and we have the metal coil that sits in the bottom of the pump strainer housing, under the basket. It has a piece of metal coming out the drain hole and that is attached to both sides of the copper that runs around the pool. The O ring on the drain plug is cracked and...

So, I have just one issue with my new pool

We have the same problem, but since my water is still in the 50's (had a freeze last week...) I put the solar cover on last night after two days of vacuuming and going through about 5 hairnets. It's not perfect, but it'll do double duty for us, since we wouldn't be getting in the pool over the...

Show me how you have your AGP backwash pvc and hose set up please?

This is amazing and EXACTLY what I need (I think). I have the hardest time with plumbing pieces (as can be seen by my ridiculous conglomeration of parts). The only thing I DO know is that the Gorilla hose I bought last year in my Amazon history says it's 2 inches. I may buy a few of these for...

Show me how you have your AGP backwash pvc and hose set up please?

We had the pool installed by a professional in 2019. In 2020 I busted the hose it came with so bought a Gorilla 2" hose b/c that's what seemed to be the most popular size? I don't actually remember why. But it was WAY to big for the piece of piping the installer had siliconed onto the backwash...

Closing Procedure Tips for Above Ground

It worked the entire winter without issue. I think at one point it did freeze around it, but I'd kind of break up the ice with a pool pole. I may have unplugged it when we got super cold, like below 0, but I don't really remember. I never took it off the pool though. Fingers crossed it works...

HELP Closing AGP, with minimal water loss....

You could also add Poly 60 before closing. That helped me open to a clear pool last spring (or at least I attribute it to helping).

Do I need a pillow in my pool?

I feel like when we bought our pool, the store owner said the pillow was to keep the water from icing and putting pressure on the walls. I get it's not useful for directing where the pooling water goes, but is there another way to protect the water from creating an ice layer? I do keep a...

    Closing above ground pool

Can I ask what type of plugs you use? I just bought this for my skimmer: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00EBABXH4/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 But I keep seeing "aquador" now and I'm not sure if I need something in addition to the above or if it's just the best brand...

    As winter approaches...

look into the little giant with the extra arm attachment. I just kept it on all last winter and it pumped water out as needed.

    Closing above ground pool

It hasn't rained here for quite some time and my water is really low as is (I hate to think I have ADD water right now, just to make sure the pump doesn't work too hard!) b/c I forgot I should SLAM before adding the Poly 60. But, I am going to try the plug for the return and skimmer plate this...

Securing Winter Cover in Midwest Winters

I did the jugs of chlorine filled with pool water and bungee cords last winter and it worked amazingly. I also have a submersible pump placed in the middle of the cover all season, so that helps as it's fairly heavy.

To drain or not to drain....winterizing an Intex Ultra Frame XTR

I'm thinking of doing this with my "regular" AGP. I'm not really understanding the benefit of wasting all of the water to drain below the return, then refilling in spring. I keep a submersible pump "on" all winter over the cover, so I'm not worried about overflowing the pool. Are there any other...

Closing Procedure Tips for Above Ground

This is what I did last year, though I'm thinking of changing a few things this year. 1. Pulled ladder, cleaned pool, SLAM, let FC drift to normal, added Polyquat 60, ran pump for 24 hrs before starting to drain, 6 inches below the return jet. 2. To drain, we had to rent a pump b/c the ones we...

First time closing above ground pool

Last year was my first closing and I did cover the skimmer per advice from here and didn't have a problem. Of course, that was only one year and many could continue to add stress. I am planning using a skimmer plate this year, so I may not worry about it. I store all of my hoses/pump indoors, so...

Closing above-ground pool: use existing pump to drain a few inches?

I'm thinking of doing the same thing, but may only drain below the skimmer and plug up the return. I hate wasting all the water and having to refill in spring. I plan on just putting the vacuum head on the hose to keep it weighed down. Or really, I do need to vacuum before closing, so maybe I'll...

I did in the beginning of the season but it wasn't accurate at all.

Where is the chlorine (and CYA) going?!?!

Noon update: FC: 13 CC: .5 So that's encouraging that there's been no loss in 4 hours (stopped raining, but no sun). Brown spots are back, so maybe still killing algae. I'll brush/vacuum after work. Hopefully I'm nearing the end. Now have to focus on keeping the stairs clean...

Where is the chlorine (and CYA) going?!?!

@duraleigh Sorry, I don't typically put those but it was part of my issue of not knowing how much to add to get to a certain FC, because of the inconsistency I keep getting. So last night it essentially took 27.42 oz of 12% bleach to raise one FC. (Took 96oz to go from 7 to 10.5). But this...

Where is the chlorine (and CYA) going?!?!

@duraleigh Pool has been completely clear the entire time. Started because when the pump turned on, I'd find a lot of brown spots along the folds daily even hours after vacuuming ( but never happened with pump off). Can't snap a picture at the moment as of course it's raining (plants will be...

Where is the chlorine (and CYA) going?!?!

Alright, back in town. We're under a heat advisory so I waited until shade to vacuum and then test. MUCH less light brown in the liner folds than I had been getting daily, so thinking mostly done killing the algae. More dirt in the center, but that's to be expected after three days of no vacuum...

Just started SLAM #3 this season...what am I doing wrong?

The frass wasn't what caused the algae issue I don't believe. I just became super vigilant about skimming and keeping the deck clean (also used skimmer socks). I do think it happened much later in the season though and it only lasted a week or so. Or we closed (can't remember). We ended up...

Just started SLAM #3 this season...what am I doing wrong?

Once I realized it was coming from outside the pool and not a form of algae, I just googled as best I could and got lucky.

Just started SLAM #3 this season...what am I doing wrong?

Look up caterpillar poop or frass. We had it last year and it took a long time to figure out what it was. Ours started in the pool but I soon noticed it all over the deck. Hard and black while dry but as soon as they get wet it turns green. Touch it then, and it turned to slime.

Where is the chlorine (and CYA) going?!?!

There is something seriously wrong with my pool. I've been SLAMing it for two weeks now and I can't figure out what the problem is. Started b/c I was getting brown build up daily along the folds and such in the liner. Initial stats: FC: 5 CC:0 PH: 7.2 TA: 70 CYA: 60 NOW: FC: 14.5 CC:0.5 PH...

    DARN Ladder!! Algae Culprit

Be careful with the noodle, I've noticed they seem disintegrate and little pieces float around.
