    Is this a calcium issue?

Good points... thank you for your bluntness and I completely get what you're saying. FWIW, he has been doing all of his own testing and has all the test. I spent the first week (end of January) teaching him how to drop test, but since then it's been all him. Although I might buy him a TF-100...

    Is this a calcium issue?

Thanks I'm working on him to register but he is all in on TFP way. We added 3lbs of CYA beginning of week. Based on this thread we will go ahead and get it up to 60 ASAP. Any thoughts on how to correct this? He has been listening to me and I have been a bit lax with getting everything exactly...

    Is this a calcium issue?

So I got sidetracked with the reps email excuses, but back to why I brought this here... Is there anything we can do about this or is it really just the nature of the beast so to say? Do you think the chemistry since the acid wash could have caused this again? Sorry, I'd just like to know...

    Is this a calcium issue?

So he got another email from the DB rep. It is below...I am hoping someone could give us direction on a response. I went on draft "rant" email but I asked my friend to simply ask them to explain in equal detail (as this response was) on how his numbers could cause the same condition in less than...

    Is this a calcium issue?

My thoughts exactly. I do, however, wonder why they would have guidelines to have such low CL with CYA ? Is part of their "guidelines" an algae bloom? lol

    Is this a calcium issue?

So we should have some more (current) reading posted today, but I wanted to share with you all an email he got from the DB rep and get your thoughts: .

    Is this a calcium issue?

Ok today's tests are below. Using the Color Q it had zero iron or copper. I tried to get some better pics but the camera really washes it all together, but I did submerge the camera and got a close up of an extremely bad spot that is on the corner of one of the steps. Maybe it will reveal...

    Is this a calcium issue?

Thank you everyone for chiming in. I will work on him to register for sure. As for the tests results, he is actually using the big Taylor kit. I don't remember the number but it's the one with the same regents as the TF. It does however have the instructions for doing more precise tests (using...

    Is this a calcium issue?

Thank you for that confirmation. Gives me a little hope I have learned something over the years on here lol . Any ideas what to consider? After the acid wash, I thought we were home free, then I went away on vacation for 3 weeks and when I got back, he told me the "scale" had come back...

    Is this a calcium issue?

My thoughts too If this was a calcium problem, wouldn't it show up as scale on the chlorinator plates too? Or is that line of thinking wrong?

    Is this a calcium issue?

Prior to acid wash, lots of chemicals were added. But since then, nothing but TFP way. Could that much have been trapped in the cartridge filter? Or possibly the Spinlabs is just wrong.

    Is this a calcium issue?

FYI_ I edited the OP to correct that the DARK color streaks the pics are showing is natural color, the "lighter' haze surrounding is what takes over the pool and is being called calcium scale. My apologies for that

    Is this a calcium issue?

Thank you. The test results are with the Tf-100 test kit. The Spin Lab was just a fun thing, I never use those results for any meaningful data . I primality used it this time to check for copper. The tests results are posted in the attached spread sheet...those are all TF drop tests. The...

    Is this a calcium issue?

Hello and if this is in the wrong forum I apologize in advance. This is a bit of a story so I will start with just the basics facts and if we need the longer version, I will be glad to type it. Neighbors pool installed last year. Dark blue DB plaster End of January had to have it drained and...

2.5 years of Sutro tests chart comparing to other methods.

Good catch. To be honest those "4" entries are certainly a mis type on my part. I am certain it would have been forty-something and not actually 4 (on the TA). The CH would have been 4 hundred -something. While Ill withhold my over all perception for a while (as not to color other peoples- which...

2.5 years of Sutro tests chart comparing to other methods.

This is a bit unsolicited, but I have spent a few days lurking around and reading up on all the stuff I have missed since I have been away and realized I had a bit of data that might be useful to someone. It's not meant to be a scientific caliber comparison. It's just something I did because I...

Chlorine testing color creeps back to pink

Hello, been a while but I have had this scenario happen the last few times I have tested. In doing chlorine test, I add drops until water clears up. Then while I'm getting ready to do CC test I noticed the water (in the speed stir) slowly turns to a slight pink color (over the course of 30...

Cloudy water -all levels are good

So this morning I decided to clean the filter again even though the pressure was not elevated. I cleaned it on my normal schedule a few weeks ago but this morning it was full of the " dust". I snapped a pic of it flowing out the filter as I was cleaning but I'm not sure the pic does it justice...

Cloudy water -all levels are good

Sorry for the delay, been dealing with a little storm lol Anyway below are the some pics from today. Not sure if you can see the cloudiness or not. After the storm (Ian) the pool was clear. It did not cloud up until I ran the robot this morning. And you can see clean tracks amongst the yellow...
