I have an overspilling spa as well with my pool and the only way to accomplish what you need is to stop the circulation of the pool altogether and only pull water from and into the spa. Should be fairly easy to figure out.

Took readings again before adding any chemicals, CYA still 40, CH 180 and TA -70. I guess water wasn't mixed properly yet when I took original readings. Looks like I only need to add some Calcium and Stabilizer this year.

The best and only way of cleaning up stains in the pool that I heard of until reading this post is to mix muriatic acid with water and use a brush to clear the stains...... however, I Am not certain you can do that without lowering the water level.

Not exactly true :) last two years my pool was done in 2 days and I didn't really add bleach very often, maybe 3 times in a 24 hour period. I believe it passed the overnight test the first night but I shocked another day just in case.
