18x48 Coleman Vista 2 Build - Doing (most) everything wrong

Absolutely. We had to drain it completely to replace them. We had about 8” of water and while we could do it, it made for a heck of a time doing so.

    Leveling issue/question..help!

I wouldn’t put the sand under topsoil The topsoil would work better than sand for the leveling I would think.

18x48 Coleman Vista 2 Build - Doing (most) everything wrong

Just to update. Pool is still standing. Still level as far as we can see. Going into season 4. Just replaced several of the frame and a handful of the uprights.

Severe rust on couple Coleman bars

I stayed away from salt because of corrosion concern. Didn’t matter :) I ended up buying some better condition, used poles from someone for $50. Entire set. Figure 1-2 more years then the liner will be trash anyway.

Severe rust on couple Coleman bars

Found this today on the underside of the top bars. A lot more severe than I thought. Really seems like a defect in workmanship. It’s only 3 specific bars. Three others have some rust but not like this.

    Where do Intex pools fail?

I have a Coleman Vista 2 going on its third season. I noticed rust on most of the tops of the legs where they got into the T post connector. We're heavily debating on letting water out, disassembling one piece at a time, sanding off the rust and respraying it to make them last longer. So...

    Help! French drain or not

I’m not particularly sure a French drain would be the problem solver. Surface run off would still sit against the pool.

Looking for distance between pool legs of 18' round Coleman

27 3/4 and 34 3/4 give or take 1/4. On the top t-post there is a plastic sleeve that protrudes about an 1/8” out of the tpost. I didn’t include that so the actual exposed metal would be less than the 27 3/4. Also there is a decent size radius between them so running something straight between...

Intex SWG is on sale...thinking of diving in

I just noticed the INTEX 26679EG QX2600 SWG is on sale and thinking of swapping out my current INTEX 26651EG SX3000 sand filter for it. I have around 6500 gallons in my Intex AGP. The QX2600 flows less than my SX3000. Flow rate is 2150 vs 2450 and chlorine output is 11g/hr. My frame...

I put mine flush with the ground but also leveled all of them with each other.

Intex skimmer basket on Coleman/Bestway pool

Check my post. I did exactly what you’re doing https://www.troublefreepool.com/threads/18x48-coleman-vista-2-build-doing-most-everything-wrong.204138/ I did hard pipe mine and I suggest doing that also. You can use GAMO 1.5 adapters also. I get adequate suction with a 3k GPM Intex pump which...

    Life lesson - check CYA

Ran into an algae problem. Kept testing chlorine and coming up 0. Kept adding more and more. I was up to 2 gallons of 12% in 24 hours. Checked my CYA today…. I had none evidently. Don’t know where it went, but alas it’s gone.

Am I too close to the edge of my excavation?

I'm not an expert or soil engineer but I had top soil brought in and filled an area with about 3' to level off the spot. It had quite a bit of clay. My prep for it was to spray water on it and run back and forth with my tractor until it didn't leave tire marks. I did this for a few days and...

    CYA Accumulation

I’ve used tabs in an above ground. The first year it worked great. Second year was ridiculously high CYA leading to partial drain. This year I used the tabs to introduce more stabilizer into the pool after partial drain for winter. In 24 hours I went from 30 to 50 CYA using the tabs. I have a...

    Help me figure this out

The wood should definitely be sitting on solid ground and not on the sand. Otherwise settling will occur. I would use a water level (search here) to get the pads level. You could even do a makeshift transit with a laser temp gun like I did to level them all.

Everything is coming along nicely. If anything has settled I can’t tell. All is holding week and the ground is still hard as concrete.

I used foam insulation boards instead of sand. No possibility of wash out and has a good feel.

Having trouble with order of setup | Intex above ground pool

Welcome in. Most have already answered. The skimmer should be installed after you have begun filling. The reason is the walls will stretch as you fill. If you install before it can rip the vinyl around the screws. Also make sure you have the orientation right before doing the holes. I had mine...

    Sand pool filter

Mine spits out some sand as I see it pick it up in the vaccum. I think it's just the variations in the size of granules of sand.

First time intex pool. Prep advice...

I tried this. Don't. You'll annoy yourself to death and it won't work out the way you planned and be even more frustrating. Plan for 2-3' beyond the pool diameter. Then set up your pool frame top without legs and figure out about where your blocks will go for the legs. You'll want a 12x12...

Adding Liquid Chlorine throughout the winter?

I didn't add any and just kept it covered. It had a little bit of algae on the sides but wasn't some green cesspool. Cleared up quickly when I opened it up this week.

We regret getting an above ground instead of an in-ground.

I have no regrets for two reasons. 1) It was cheaper than an in ground. 2) I can throw it away when I get tired of it.
