Filter is here.. exciting! I asked above if I can just cut the pipe after turning off pump, but I realize I can just do everything the conventional way. So instead of using pressure, like my pool guy, to blow the lid open. I can shut everything off properly, and simply poke and pry with a...

Hey Guys, once I get my filter and start the job... I don't want to go through the dangers and hassle of opening my Pentair/Purex lid. After turning off pump, and opening pump lid to release more pressure... can I just then saw right at the filter's outlet and let the water gush out? Any reason...

Technically, I have never done it. The pool guy did it. He said it's the only way with these older stainless steel ones. The alternative is poking and prying which can damage filter, or o-ring. I have him come out once or twice a year just to do that.

All right, so I pulled the trigger for the Aquastar. But I've been curious about something... is it bad, or a strain on the pump if it's running, but the spa is not spilling over? With my current filter, at lower speeds, the spa will not spill over... that's when I know it's time to clean it.

Just the way the filter is removed to be cleaned seems so convenient. I wonder if filter makers will copy in the future. The old school stainless steel I have with the barrel bolt requires turning on pump to use pressure to open it. 😂 I know newer filters, from tried and true brands like pentair...

Hey Guys, so the following list are from online shops that have the plf35000 anywhere between $875-$925 free shipping. Then there are online shops that are asking about $1100. I've never purchased any pool supply online. In the past, my pool guy got all the parts. Can you guys chime in if you've...

In general, do we need professional installation for pool filter warranties to be good?

Regarding #4 in the diagram, that triangular thing. Mine doesn't have that. Does that matter? Do you still think it's the same model?

Wow, thanks for the blow-up model information. By any chance would you happen to know the gasket diameter? #7 in the diagram. I can probably live with this filter for awhile longer with a new seal. But reason I'm interested in Aquastar is because it looks easy to maintain.

No, it's really cartridge. I don't know the model, but I've seen it cleaned plenty of times. Three cartridges inside.

My pentair is old. It's a cartridge, and the label on the filter is so faded, I don't know what model it is. 😂

About a year ago, I had my eye on this filter. But I said let me wait and see if there are more discussions as more people use it. But it seems any info about this filter and discussions are all old. Especially disappointing in YouTube that there hasn't been any new videos of people installing...

How often do you have to brush the pool walls?

Hey guys, if you take good care of your pool. Meaning the filter is optimal, the chemicals are balanced.... then should you see yellow build-up if you miss brushing for just one day? I know this probably isn't exact science, and most likely everybody is YMMV. If I miss brushing for just one day...

    Filter lid

This was what I wanted to hear when I started this thread. LOL! I guess I was on the right track, before I gave up. I actually poked around and pryed a little with a flathead before I decided it might not be wise. I was afraid of damaging the lid. Also, when you put the flat head in the gap, you...

    Filter lid

Nice, so mine is "vintage." Gonna bring it to PBS Antique Road Show. LOL! I'm leaning towards Aquastar Pipeline. Looks like it would be easier to DIY maintain. What do you guys think?

    Filter lid

I should have clarified my question with a little more info. This is not a D.E. filter, it's a cartridge. I've seen my pool guy clean it, it has 4 cartridges inside I believe, and IIRC, he said it was an old Pentair. So yeah, I've always been curious what the model number is for this filter. All...

    Filter lid

Whoa, did I post that before or something? If not, A.I. is really advanced now. LOL! Yes, that is my filter. You think it's time for a replacement? I can't even find the model number on this thing.

    Filter lid

Okay, fairly new to taking care of my own pool and this video scare the Crud outta me. LOL! How did these accidents happened? Did they not turn off filter and releasing pressure gauge? That's what I've always thought, that if you turn off your filter, and release pressure gauge, you are safe to...

Another issue, some sort of leak... What's happening?

I mean it's yellow in the scale. It's in the IDEAL range. The yellow spots break up easily. But after a few days, you may see them again.

Another issue, some sort of leak... What's happening?

Another question... LOL! Every few days, I get some yellowy spots on the wall. Then I'd break it up with a brush. Is this normal? Chlorine seems okay. PH seems to be bordering 7.8 and 7.6. I can never tell the difference between 7.8 to 7.6.

Mine is the Jandy 4945 3-Port 1-1/2 to 2-Inch. Do you happen to know what other model internals would be interchangeable? For some reason this model has more than doubled in price.

Another issue, some sort of leak... What's happening?

Thank you! Good to know! I checked my order history, and that valve was purchased in 2016, Jandy never lube. Others in my system are older. So, relatively, this guy didn't last long.

If we are simply fixing that spa area, what is your estimate cost in Southern California if I were to call the pros?

Another issue, some sort of leak... What's happening?

I can say with 100% certainty now that it is the cracks in the coping that has been causing water out the street. I kept the water below the coping separation today while running pump, and nothing has been going out the street. Consequently guys, I discovered that when I close the return valve...
