Green Ring on Steps & hair/white suits turn Green

Thank you both for the replies. I’m going to start with a full test of water on my own and take a sample to two different places to compare results. Once I’m confident in my results I’ll try the stain kit. I couldn’t think of anything copper but completely forgot my Raypack heater has a copper...

Green Ring on Steps & hair/white suits turn Green

No products. I was referring to Algaecide Test Strip kit I bought from Amazon that tests for copper sulfate and copper sulfate pentahydrate. It looks like the scale is in mg/L and ideal range on the scale is 0-1 which is where my water tests.

Green Ring on Steps & hair/white suits turn Green

Hi - I’ve been following TF Pool methods and test kit for three years and my water has been crystal clear and never green. I do however notice a green ring at water level on the stairs. My wife keeps complaining of our daughters hair getting a slight green tint and yesterday a guests white top...

I decided to go with Betta and the extended warranty. I’ve had it for several weeks and don’t have any complaints. Turn it on and place it in the pool, that’s it. It has worked flawlessly and run for hours on end. Got up at 5am one morning and looked out the window and it was still going. Like...

Thanks Jim. Are you running your SWG longer at lower setting as well?

    Pump Run Time

So I’ve read many posts and article about pump run time and still trying to decide what’s best. I understand the principles that running the pump only as much as needed to generate enough chlorine is the bottom line with preference for clearing debris as the next reason to run longer. In my...

    Pool Company added Shock

CYA was at or near zero. I dissolved one bag in hot water then poured in and the other I hung a sock at return. I went conservative with only two bags at first since it’s my first time with pool. I put 3/4 bag more in now in a sock. If I overshoot 40, it shouldn’t be by much if my math is...

    Pool Company added Shock

Added two 4lb bags of CYA yesterday and it’s registering now in tube, but still able to fill all the way, so I look to be close to 30. Going to add another 4lb bag today. I was surprised when checking chlorine, my concern over the shock was over blown as the block was showing 0 chlorine. I...

    Pool Company added Shock

Thanks going to add CYA today to about 40 and then will add more when I bring SWG online for good. Water temp has been floating between 54-58 even with the cold we had the other night, so I assume I’ll be able to turn on SWG shortly. PH was at 7.5 after fill and was at 7.8 last night. I see on...

I do not, but going to check my trash can to see if they might have thrown out a container or bag. The CYA view tube filled up to the top and remained clear. I can check it again today when I do the FAS/DPD test to be sure. Also correction to my TA in original post, it was 60, not 6.

So much for spending all this time reading to try and perfect my pool opening with new liner. First time pool owner, just had pool liner replaced and all new equipment installed. I had my TF Pro kit with salt testing ready to go. Figured with water temps still in the 50’s and just filling the...

    Solar Breeze Ariel

The new Solar Breeze Ariel skimmer was showing preorder with ship date of mid April for the past several months. I see now it’s still preorder and lead time is mid June. Anyone know if all orders moved out to June or did they actually fulfill the earlier orders in April? If it was pushed out...

    Renovation Opening?

Hi, Pool renovation is coming a long faster than I expected. We are having new equipment installed and a liner which may be done this week. I’m in S.E. PA and current low average at night is 45 and day time average is 65. We are converting to salt with an IC40. I know it’s not warm enough...

    Advice for old inground pool

Thanks all for the replies. I have a pool guy locked up now and going to do a lot more than originally planned. The bottom needs some work and I was quoted to do a 1.5” skim coat of vermiculite. We decided while we are at it to change the bottom. The floor slopes continuously from the stairs...

    Advice for old inground pool

Bought house almost two years ago with inground 20x40 vinyl liner pool that hadn’t been used in two years per seller, but I think it was longer. Had a pool guy out that quoted me $3500 for liner and opening. I did a lot of research and had a list of equipment at the time, but our house...

    New House, New(used) Pool

Hi All, When my wife and I bought our current house five years ago I said “No Pools!” Fast-forward five years and after a brutally slow process to add an addition, we jumped on a house that went up for sale in our neighborhood that has the space we want. You guessed it, it has a pool! And it...
