New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

Just noticed that This Evo line is similar to Some Polaris designs. Some of the filter parts are even a match to some Polaris models like Epic and a few others. I wonder how different this EVO model is from other Polaris ones...

New EVO 614i Robot Pool Cleaner Review

is the "app" useful? It is a 15% premium on the base model 604. what kind of functionality does it allow? Edit : Just found the manual... let's you start/stop, which doesn't seem very useful, unless you tend to leave it in the pool all the time which I don't do. And the other is the manual...

Types of plugs and when to use which

We have inherited our viynl pool and various plugs and I hadn't thought much about the plug until now. I have doing some research on 0-rings, and it lead me to various kinds of plugs with o-rings on them. None of our plugs do. Turns out we have 3 kinds of plugs ...

pH from 7.3 to 7.9 in 2 months - normal?

oh wow - ok - so mine is on the good end of the spectrum :) good to know. Then I'm going to end this with a question on closing and if any adjustments are needed. Ill be adjusting the FC and then putting in the PolyQuat 60 but any pH/TA/CH adjustment needed before I do that? I think my pH will...

pH from 7.3 to 7.9 in 2 months - normal?

Hi there, Beginning of August i had a pH of 7.3. When I measured today, it was 7.9. Is this drift normal? It is a salt water viynl pool that is known to drift AFAIK, but I didn't expect it to be this much this fast. I was mostly keeping an eye on FC, not so much on pH. Full set of numbers ...

    Removing algae dust that settles

I guess it just needed one more day - bottom is clear now (y) And i guess a final question : with FC around 13 (CYA 30) and our pool not getting to much sun during the day, is it safe to swim with these elevated FC levels? It will probably take at least 3-4 days before it gets down to 5-6 FC...

    Removing algae dust that settles

Just to continue with this SLAM process : It has been 5 days now i think. Daily robot, 24h circulation, etc. Vacuumed / backwashed twice during this period. Pool is now clear. There isn't any chlorine loss overnight (at least in the error range of much measurement) But I am still seeing...

    Removing algae dust that settles

i have a TigerShark with fabric filters. it turns green :) when I run it and I do run it regularly as well. One question though with the CC test. if have an FC of 18 for CYA for 30ish. After the FC tests and 5 drops DPD, solution barely turns pink. I notice the ting of pink but it is very...

    Removing algae dust that settles

OK. Point taken re: "the process" I will admit I was trying to take shortcuts where I could. I need to dedicate the time somehow to get the regular testss/dose calculations in. The discussion was useful in helping me understand that vacuuming and backwash cannot be skipped. Thanks again!

    Removing algae dust that settles

Re: SLAM : in terms of maintaining the right FC levels? I figured a dose of HTH (higher FC then needed) would not hurt. I think my question was mostly about vacuuming and accumulation of algae in the sand filter. I don't want to lose too much water so i'm trying to avoid backwashing...

    Removing algae dust that settles

I have the Taylor test kit. What caused all this was not doing any cleaning any testing for couple of weeks, with the pool covered. I didn't even notice the color changing as a result. And now I have to deal with it. You haven't directly answered but are you basically saying it will NOT work...

    Removing algae dust that settles

Just wanted to get a better understanding on what is the best approach for this situation where we had a green pool with some debris all around the pool and after a round of brushing / robot cleaner / and a dose of shock (pump circulating 24hr etc) things do settle back down - admittedly less -...

Salt Cell Percentage / "low flow" / pump run settings

This discussion was useful So really there is no point for me going below 1500 as I neither get chlorine generation nor heating nor good skimming And increasing it only helps with better skimming! Thanks

Salt Cell Percentage / "low flow" / pump run settings

To respond to the couple questions : That's all in my setup : pump, sand filter, swcg, heater. And yes skimmer has weir doors Current setting is 1750 : both swcg and heater happy. Down to 1300 they are happy but skimmer action is very slow below that they both shut down...

Salt Cell Percentage / "low flow" / pump run settings

@Jimrahbe I have a relatively simple setup. Everthing connected serial - with no flow control anywhere. so all the water ciculated is going through the cell. I am not clear how the presence of a heater effects the flow rate and SWCG : can you pls elaborate? You said : > In general, at 50%...

Salt Cell Percentage / "low flow" / pump run settings

Hi there, I have a Hayward AquaRite salt cell system. When the pump is running at low speed, system does not generate any chlorine, and puts out a warning. What is the "percentage" value set relative to? Is that % value a percentage of "when it can generate" ? I guess it has to be... Then...

Effect of Bioguard sticks / hth pucks

To conclude : dumping the blue BioGuard sticks. Using the HTH pucks to raise FC / CYA until I run out. Back to Liquid Chlorine / Stabilizer after that Thank you!!

Effect of Bioguard sticks / hth pucks

Effect of Bioguard sticks / hth pucks

Copper ? What is the purpose of copper in BioGuard? Why is bad.... Apparently BioGuard reformulated these things. If that helps, it is this one : BioGuard SilkGuard Sticks Not the "Complete" one.... 1pm for the HTH - not bad - I think there is at least 10 of them there... Nice!

Effect of Bioguard sticks / hth pucks

I have found these two buckets (quarter full) of chlorine products from the previous owner. They have been sitting in the shed for the last 5 years. Now I want to put them to good use if I can 1. Bioguard smart silk guard sticks (bluish color) 2. Hth 3” chlorinating pucks. Says 100%...
