Algae bloom and not sure why.

Vacuumed pool, had peppering spots of dropout, not in crevices as normal. Backwashed filter and brushed pool, still looks clear even after brushing. Going to continue SLAM and see what it looks like in the morning.

Algae bloom and not sure why.

FC back to SLAM level. Pulled ladder and cleaned. Had a little green bloom come out of ladder when I knocked off the rubber cap. I didn’t remove the lights, I’m not certain how it comes apart without messing it up.

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Alright, I made it home this afternoon and obtained the readings below. I don’t see a way to add phosphates, but they are 500 ppb. The water was clear before the kids brushed it, now it’s slightly cloudy. There was a little bit of drop out in liner seams. What should I do next? Usually if it’s...

I'll get back to recording more information.

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Sorry, the format sure has some room for improvement. The SLAM is generally a 10-14 day process, as in this case. The FC was raised ~10 days prior to 5/25. With my work schedule, it's rare that I return home to a clear pool like I did on 5/25. For this instance the pool was not in SLAM, as...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

I figured it would just end up being a short duration of super FC water. lol

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Thanks for the updates, I'll be away from home for about 6 more days but will check when I get home. Last thing I want is to be buying a new phone when family drops in pool lol. Pool has progressed to the cloudy state and SWG was able to gain some ground with FC, so we will continue efforts...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

I don't have that style of light, but do have three smaller lights and the ladder. So while it is newer, there are 3 chances of failure. I'll investigate the ladder assembly also, as I'm not sure how it remove it to inspect. I'm sure the ladder is just a basic stainless or chrome 3 step...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

I've never removed a light or ladder. I do brush all each time, but have never thought about ensuring the voids under each step is brushed or pulled ladder away from pool to get between bumper and liner. No water features. Would the algae in these areas not be killed with the SLAM level FC?

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Added 7 gallons of chlorine yesterday evening and brushed. This morning the FC was down to 10, added 6 more gallons and brushing throughout the day. Pool looked a lot better this morning, with some settlement. Pool wasn't vacuumed, but brushed again. Both pictures are the deep end. Each...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

I'm definitely looking for what I missed and trying to understand a better path forward. I do plan to get family more involved, but looking at the data they provided, there isn't anything I would have done differently, so I would still be in this situation. There is always the chance that...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Technically yes, because I shutdown circulation for about 6 hours to install cell and flow switch, allowing time for glue to cure. I did however, add additional chlorine above SLAM level prior to shutting down circulation and installation. After installation, I restarted the process until the...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Agreed, it isn't very visible, as all I stated was starting the SLAM. For the long story, I mostly wanted to highlight that I properly SLAM'd to open, set up SWG, had an outbreak which I assumed was due to SWG malfunction and low FC confirmed that (in my mind). Then another SLAM was completed...

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Yes, both the opening and the first outbreak all three criteria were met.

Algae bloom and not sure why.

Had an algae bloom and can't determine why. Short story (addition recent history under long story, including SWG failure): Had an algae bloom and can't determine why. Circulate pool ~12 hours per day, SWG set at 80% power. FC - 6 pH - 7.3 TA - 70 CH - 175 CYA - 70 Salt - 3600 per drops, 3470 per...

    Sand dollar SD80 capacity?

Thanks, I was wanting to verify before filling.

    Sand dollar SD80 capacity?

What is the total capacity, if full, of a sand dollar SD80 p/n 145333? I decided to complete a deep clean and was shocked to find only about 1’ of sand inside. I estimate my pool to be 27-28k gallons, so believe it should be 200-350 lbs of sand. After backwashing, I generally have about 20...

Normal salt PPM for non-saltwater pool?

Thanks, I didn’t notice the difference of the CYA. I lowered it to ~75 with my water replacement.

Normal salt PPM for non-saltwater pool?

It will be a drought unless I fill it, then it will be monsoons. I’m going to attempt to get it around 60.

Normal salt PPM for non-saltwater pool?

Thanks, guess I need to just trust the kit lol. I’m about to replace a good bit of water due to CYA at 90, so I know it will change.
  26. T

Normal salt PPM for non-saltwater pool?

Is 2200 normal for a pool that’s never had salt added? I’m currently opening pool, cleaning, etc. then plan to convert to saltwater, so I decided to test so that I’d know about how much salt is needed.

    Swapping to SWG

RJ60 and Taylor salt test kit should be on the way. Will be going for the salt next. Any salt to stay away from or must haves?

    Swapping to SWG

I will definitely get the test kit. The RJ60 is on order, thanks everyone for the guidance.

    Swapping to SWG

Where do you all purchase from? I see discountsaltpool.com has it for about $300 less than most others, website look legit, but I don't know anything about them.
