Help on Subpanel & Automation for a Solar System

Thanks Guinness. The Suntouch is a much maligned controller. The Solartouch seems to be well regarded but doesn't seem to have cleaner timer option.

Help on Subpanel & Automation for a Solar System

From what I can tell, the Solartouch will shut off the booster pump for 5 minutes when the solar is activating to prevent air from the solar making its way into the cleaner pump. I do not believe it has a separate timer for the cleaner booster pump. Please someone school me if different than my...

Help on Subpanel & Automation for a Solar System

I am definitely set on a Pentair pump but I’m open to other controller options. I just assumed that matching the pump with the same company’s controller made the most sense for enhanced communication/control.

Help on Subpanel & Automation for a Solar System

From what I have read, neither the Solartouch nor the VSF pump can control the schedule for a cleaner booster pump. Seems that the Solartouch will just shut it down while Solar is being turned on for protection from air but will not control its master schedule. So, it seems like I need a...

Philadelphia Area - Looking for a Solarattic Heat Exchanger Installer

I live in the Philadelphia western suburbs and have purchased a Solarattic Heat Exchanger to help heat my pool with my attic heat (it is essentially a radiator using the pool water which is pumped up the side of the house via the main filter pump, into the attic, through the exchanger, and back...

Help on Subpanel & Automation for a Solar System

I am installing a solar heating system and a new pump and want to modernize and clean up current equipment including a new subpanel without spending a ton of money but am uncertain as to what I should do. I have a 30K gallon pool with a pressure side polaris cleaner but no other bells or...

Wiring for solartouch + VSF pump

Thanks! One last question (I believe) - can you program the solar touch to run a program on the VSF when solar is turned on that specifies a flow rate instead of a speed? Thanks again in anticipation of your response.

Wiring for solartouch + VSF pump

Have you gotten the solartouch working with the VSF pump? The solartouch manual is old (pre-VSF) and states that it is recommended for the VS model and not recommended for the VF model. I called pentair and they couldn’t give me more info and whether it works well with the VSF pump. Thanks.

    Let's talk Pentair Automation

You are completely correct. The marketing names are so similar and they have a bunch of legacy products - it gets confusing. intelliconnect seems very expensive even for a basic package.

    Let's talk Pentair Automation

Hopefully, but intellicenter does not have heater support I believe.

    Let's talk Pentair Automation

Thanks everyone. It really does seem that all of these automation systems are outdated in regards to interface, features, and functionality. For instance, there are no HomeKit solutions that I can find. It is just hard to believe no third party has come into the marketplace to sell a...

    Let's talk Pentair Automation

This might seem like a silly question, but what is the benefit of a load center? Is it just another breaker for the pool equiptment subpanel? If so, what is the benefit of another breaker if there is already one At the main panel in the house?

Pump and Automation for Solar Attic Heat Exchanger

I do plan to check with homeowners insurance. That was my first thought too but not really any different than having pipes through your walls currently. There is only one connection in and out and flexible PVC going to and from (the greatest sight of a potential leak is at connection points)...

Pump and Automation for Solar Attic Heat Exchanger

Jimrahbe, Thanks for your reply. I completely understand your thoughts. I have had the same concerns. The temp differential, however, is quite significant (at least 20 degrees hotter even at quite cool temps (85 degrees in attic if 65 outdoor ambient). We dont want to be spending loads of...

Pump and Automation for Solar Attic Heat Exchanger

I'm strongly considering putting in an attic heat exchanger (Solar Attic) as we have high attic temperatures and by putting that heat in the pool we would also cool our house and reduce air conditioning cost. In theory it makes a lot of sense and our attic/pool stats seem to work well for the...
