    Circupool Edge 40

I need more information about this. Running the pump at night will lower the pool temp?

Can see the main drain today!

    Starting a SLAM today!

How old are your reagents? How do you store them?

    Cottonwoods already?!?

I don't take my phone with me near the pool. Closing last fall I dropped my phone in and had to buy a new one! :D

First ever green water in 11 years

I concur. Here in Michigan I usually open mid-may. By then the water is just starting to turn green. This year I couldn't open until yesterday (lots of events and bad weather, etc). However, my pool is almost already clear. I found that getting the pump going, adding SLAM level chlorine...

    Starting a SLAM today!

Welcome @jbaldwin62 ! You have found the right place. Have you brushed the walls and pool bottom? I find that my initial opening goes much faster if I brush once I add chlorine. Also, watch the pressure on your filter and make sure to do regular rinses of your cartridge once you get a...

    Cloudy Pool Trouble

Okay, the surface of the water in that picture looked perfectly still which is why I mentioned it. I'll let those that are experts on sand filters help you! :)

    Cloudy Pool Trouble

Doesn't look like your pump is running. You need to be running the pump 24/7 until the water clears.

    Converting others to TFP

I have told other pool owners about TFP. Some go glass eyed. Others are not interested as soon as I say stop using stabilized chlorine. Others go to the site, come back to me and say they don't understand any of it. It is definitely frustrating.

    Passed OCLT but still cloudy

Well done. I find that the hardest part on my patience is the after the SLAM waiting for the filter to do its job!

    Cottonwoods already?!?

Newdude! Good to see ya. It's been a rough opening. Worst I've had in 6 years of owning the pool.

    Cottonwoods already?!?

Usually, I open the pool middish May, and within a few days the pool is clear. Minimum skimmer cleanout required, etc. This year is different. I noticed over the weekend that the cottonwoods were in full seeding. Removing the cover I found the entire surface of the water covered in cottonwood...

    Cottonwoods already?!?

Opened pool today. Slamming and already have a clearing pool. But the cottonwoods are already seeding. I don't remember ever having them start this early before! They were covering the water when I pulled the cover. Already went thru a skimmer sock. Anyway, CYA at 50. FC over 20. Filter...

This article on pools made me chuckle!

https://fox8.com/news/pool-have-a-chlorine-smell-dont-swim-in-it/amp/ So much false information. Can you imagine some non pool person trying to decipher a test strip to determine if a pool or spa is safe? 🤣

Polaris Nautilus CC cord blue coating flaking

Yes Dolphin. Had a brain fart.

Polaris Nautilus CC cord blue coating flaking

Anyone ever have that problem? I've kept the chlorine in the recommended range so I don't think it's a high chlorine issue. Could it be a UV ray problem? My pool gets full sun all day, no shade. And unless we are swimming I keep the robot in the pool all the time. Thoughts?

Not to mention that it is just waiting to be stepped on and compromising the joints.

    Baking soda versus borax

Just a quick note on this. I love the way Borax makes my pool water feel! So I will usually use it to adjust pH, after getting the TA in range.

    Baking soda versus borax

Question on this, I thought the test didn't really show below 7.0 very well? So if you are 7 you could actually be lower than that? Am I not remembering that correctly?
  22. LoneWolfArcher

can you add several chemicals in the same day?

Marty is the expert and what he said is 100% correct. That said, I always wait 20-30 minutes, pump running, between chemicals. Just me being anal retentive.

    Well another season underway!

OUCH! LOL THough I am pretty sure I paid ~$150 in 2019 for my current cartridge. Inflation sucks.

    Well another season underway!

THanks guys! I have to share my pool store story from over the weekend. I am lucky that I have two pool stores within driving distance that carry Taylor test kits and reagents. The one I prefer to go to has a very bad construction zone between it and me. The other one is south of me, and I...

Are you sure that's a fiberglass pool?

Nursing along an ancient hybrid pool

On the CYA, I prefer mine in the higher range. While it requires a little more chlorine I give the margin for error a bit higher with the chlorine lasting longer. I may be a crackpot on that but I like my CYA at around 60.

    Well another season underway!

Opened pool last night. This morning it is already clear! Water feels about 60 degrees right now! But lots of sun the next few days.

    Managing a pool from a distance :)

IMHO, if they can backwash the filter, then they can do simple water testing. Admittedly, water balancing and testing is daunting at first, but it becomes second nature, like driving a car, after a while. I would try to encourage them to get a good test kit (see pool school) and learn the basic...

    Swimming season is upon us!

Finally consistently warm, trending towards hot here in SE Michigan. Looks like the worst of the cottonwoods are over. I had to replace a pump motor, then a cracked impeller. But even with that, TFP methods, skimmer sock filtering out the cottonwood seeds, and the robot vacuum, the lsat month...

    New build

I think it is amazing. A perfect pool for the space. I think it is going to be very enjoyable for years to come. I know it was a costly investment, but in San Diego I have to believe a pool adds a lot of value to your property. Here in Michigan, not so much. I've even heard that here in the...
