My first SLAM. What to do if it rains mid SLAM?

I started my first SLAM yesterday. CYA 45 indicated a SLAM level of 18 for FC. Right before bed, I tested FC and got a reading of 20. I woke up before sunrise today to test and read 17, or a loss of 3ppm. I added more chlorine to get it back above 18. The pool has cleared up a lot and I...

Should I add borates to my pool

I put them in last year because my wife wanted the “silky smooth” feel of salt water and I had read that borates can mimic that. Second, the sparkly water was nice. And last, it was supposed to make maintenance slightly ‘easier’ with less need to mess with pH. Those were all in the marketing...

Should I add borates to my pool

Based on the comments here I'm assuming it wouldn't be a good idea to add borates to a pool that small children use often? If its toxic to pets, it must be to children as well. My 2 year old think its funny to pretend like he's drinking the pool water and then watch me squeal.

    Houston we have a problem

Greetings from Houston! I’m here because I’m aspiring to be the “pool guy” for my family pool. I have no prior experience with pool maintenance, so when we moved into a house with a pool, I found someone to maintain the pool.. All was going well until 3 weeks ago. He stopped showing up and...

    Chemicals out of whack

I'm having the same problem that Lizzard6975 is having so this advice is much appreciated!! I have a question about the water exchange you described above. If I need to exchange 50% of my water, and I use a sump pump on the deep end and allow the auto-fill to replenish water in the shallow...
