    Solar cover x chlorine

Hi, mKnauss where should baking soda and borax be added? Also by the jets? I guess I've been doing that wrong adding to skimmer. I do add liquid in front of returns.

Quick Ph and TA question which to adjust first?

Thank you Tim. That explanation was enough for me. I measured the CYA by the method of pool water to 7 line and tap water to the 14 line then after mixing poured out down to the 7 line and then added the test chemical. I got 80 CYA and then doubled so I'm not sure if I did that right, but I...

Quick Ph and TA question which to adjust first?

Thanks for all your help. I worked on TA first. Got it a little high. I'm posting my new numbers but now have a question about free chlorine and CYA. When the pool was first tested everything was either zero or low except CYA which was around 160. Since this is a vinyl pool, I am trying to...

New house with Pool where to start?

Update... Turns out this pool does not have a saltwater generator as we were originally told. It has a chlorine dispenser for tablets which I do not plan to use

Quick Ph and TA question which to adjust first?

I don't have numbers yet. This pool is in another state where we purchased the home but have not moved yet. I am traveling back and forth to work on the pool. I had hoped to get some advice before going over because I figure I cannot rely on getting an answer while I am still there

Quick Ph and TA question which to adjust first?

I know one affects the other and one should be adjusted first right? If so, which one? I have my own test kit and know what my numbers should be.

New house with Pool where to start?

I planned to order 2006 from Amazon. It appears the TF100 has 1 oz reagents where the 2006 has 2 oz. Is there some other reason the 100 is the better buy? I am familiar with testing and balancing my old pool. I am only concerned at this point that it was originally salt water but the owner...

New house with Pool where to start?

I'm an old member here but got rid of my pool a while back. Now moving to new home with pool but have not closed on house yet so really do not have any information yet on pool other than it is inground with vinyl liner. I do not know the size but it is fairly large. Here's the...

    Help TA = 275

Still another problem she is dealing with. Her pump is the small Summer Escapes pump that came with the pool. It only has a filter cartridge. No sand filter. She is having a great deal of trouble getting the pool to clear up. There is still a grey residue in the pool. I'm sure it is just...

We are using the ph minus powder form. I'm not sure what to select on the pool calculator. Would I select dry acid?

    Help TA = 275

Thank you for that info James. I have her using ph reducer to bring the ph down in an attempt to lower alkalinity. Is this not the correct procedure? I thought we keep lowering ph and the alkalinity would come down, but it has not changed at all.

    Help TA = 275

I am an old member and used this forum often for my pool which I no longer have. I am trying to help my daughter and she is a first time pool owner living in another state so we can only communicate through phone and message. She bought a house which came with an Intex 4600 gallon above ground...

    Hurricane Advice needed!

I thought I posted this question earlier but cannot find it, so here goes again! I am in the path of the storm and have a 52 in above ground right outside my bedroom window. I am concerned about the possibility of it bursting and sending thousands of gallons of water into my home. What would...

help with dirt soon after vacuuming

Thanks AnnaK, I backwash pretty often, usually at least once a week and sometimes after each vacuum. I am not actually sure if I am on rinse when I think I am. My top label is worn off so I cannot actually tell. I know that backwash is a 180° turn from vacuum and that waste is about 45°...

help with dirt soon after vacuuming

I am new to this BBB method and so far things have been going well. I started out with a high cya and kept my chlorine very high. However, after many many partial drains, I believe my cya is down to around 50-70. I just cannot really tell for sure because I have a difficult time with the...

    Help fixing leak

    Help fixing leak

I have found the leak in the vinyl in the bottom of my pool. I have never fixed one before. My pool guy left me a piece of vinyl, but was not interested in getting in there to repair it. Can anyone give me some instructions on how to do this by myself? Or point me in the direction of some...

    My first time testing

Okay, after a couple of weeks of testing and adjusting, and lowering cya and ph and trying to get alk down, these are my numbers today: FC - 5.5 CC - 0 ph - 7.6 TA - 130 CYA - 50 Should I stay with these numbers or make any other adjustments? I started with an extremely high level of chlorine...

    My first time testing

Ok. I think this is getting a bit easier. Here are my new numbers this morning: FC - 10.5 CC - 0 ph - 7.2 TA - 130 I was advised to lower ph to get TA down. What now? Should I try to lower TA a bit more? When should I try to increase ph again? I did not measure CYA this time, but assume...

    My first time testing

My results tonight: FC = 11.8 CC = 0 TA = 150 Ph = 7.6 - 8.0 CH = 200 CYA = 90-100 The pool store told me cya was 78, but I stop seeing the black dot and get what looks like about 95 to me. I still have a hard time reading Ph when it is pink so I'm guessing either 7.6 - 8.0 because I have...

    My first time testing

Will I still use 2 scoops of the powder? And on the TA, it goes from green to clear, then to pink. The first drop that turns it pink is what I count or the one before? And I'm guessing by the CYA/Chlorine chart that I should keep my chlorine around 9? Thanks. I'll work on the Ph tomorrow.

    My first time testing

Got my Taylor 2006 kit today. Wow, I hope I get better at this. I feel like everything I did was so inaccurate. So if I could get some advice please? FC = 14.4 CC = 0 PH = possibly 7.8 or higher. This was really hard for me to tell the difference in color, but it also said to add a...

    New Here

Oh I am sorry, I meant to post that. First, the lady seemed very reluctant to give me actual numbers. I had to ask several times just to get her to tell me my cya which she said was 78. She said my TA was high, Chlorine levels were all good, and Ph was good. Other than that she just wouldn't...

    New Here

Thanks for your replies. I have not gotten my kit yet, so I broke down and took a water sample to the pool store so I could try to get an accurate reading on my cya. Of course I was also told I needed 10 lbs of calcium hardness. I wouldn't have bought it except she said it would protect my...
