    Bad plaster job?

Thank you. I didn't even notice the crack in the tile, but after inspection that seems to be the only one. The rest seem to stop at the edge of the tile. The tile is pretty flat in most spots, but there is a definite "wave" in the area of several of the cracks. I'm going demand that the pool...

    Bad plaster job?

There are 7 total cracks (now visible with no water). They are on 4 of the 6 walls. Most of them extend from tile line vertically down and stop before the floor (2 cracks reach the floor, but don't extend through the floor). I agree the cracks are not normal. My real concern is do I have a...

    Bad plaster job?

Thank you both. I had not seen the white spotting post. Didn’t search very good apparently. It seems that the info points to an incorrect application of the plaster. Causing the multiple shrinking cracks. Looks like I have quite a bit more reading to do before my PB comes back this afternoon...

    Bad plaster job?

Our pool is less than a year old, and the plaster has never been “right”. the color wasn’t right, and had white spots on the bottom. PB said they would go away with brushing, but never did. Then we found a crack. So yesterday we drain it, and he comes over with acid to fix white spots. Spends...

    OOPS- Wrong Chemical

Thanks all. Good to know, it doesn't sound like a major issue. I have added acid last night and again this morning. PH was 8.2 (but isn't too much higher than my normal in the mornings) TA is at 60 which is consistent with when I left. I think we got away with it, because she added it like...

    OOPS- Wrong Chemical

I was out of town and my wife added 28 oz of soda ash instead of acid to my pool.... Please help me fix it? She sent me a pics of the chlorine/PH test, and looked on pool math, and told her how much chlorine and Acid to add, and how to do it over the phone. It's a decent story I can tell...

    PH won’t reduce

No...unfortunately the waterfall isn’t installed yet, still waiting on my PB to finish that and hook up the heater. He says it will be done this week. When he finishes, we will keep it off, at least until the PH stabilizes.

    PH won’t reduce

I’m not adding a gallon a day, but close to half a gallon (24 oz twice a day). How long should I expect this to continue?

Water looks great. It has been very clear since I started using bleach. I don't know if it makes a difference, but my kids have only been in the pool less than an hour in 3 weeks, it is still way too cold most days, and I'm not running the heater yet.

    PH won’t reduce

Sorry y'all I will update my signature. I got a brand new TF100 kit, and used the complete kit yesterday for the first time. Exp date on the acid reagent is 9/19, so it should be good for a while. Results from yesterday complete test are here (assuming I did them correctly): FC-3 CC - 1 TC - 4...

“Best guess” Chart vs pool math

I tested again with room temperature water, and 90 minutes after adding Acid. My PH is back down to 7.6. Thanks so much. Should I always test with room temperature water? I didn't see that in the instructions for the test kit, but I can start if that is a best practice.

Well, to my knowledge he didn't add any additional stabilizer. Also, it may have been a poor test that gave me that #, when I did my own testing yesterday it came back between 30-40. Hopefully that test was correct, and I am in a good range.

Sorry, I do have the TF100. Used it for the first time yesterday to get the readings. CYA came from pucks that the PB was using during startup. They have been removed.

    PH won’t reduce

In total I’ve added almost a gallon in 3 days. 32oz Friday, 52 oz Saturday and 39 oz Sunday. I’ve been using 31.45%, and I did double check that I’m selecting the right % in pool math.

Yes, sorry I didn’t mean to change the subject of this thread, I was asking in relation to the new plaster care info that AJW posted. I’ll keep that discussion on that thread.

I tested and treated a couple times today. Tested 5 hours after adding MA this morning. The I added MA again, and tested 2 hours later. It lowered slightly, but still not at 7.8. I’ll test again in the morning.

Thanks so much for the help. It was great to see that article. Some of that info was not relayed to be buy the builder. I tested this morning got a CYA between 30-40, I have the FC at 5. I’ll let them come down and try to hold them and try to hold around 3 for the next 2 weeks. PB was using...

Yes. I’ve been managing my own chemicals for a week. I’ll get a complete test set done today and post it, I’m just concerned it’s not seeming to move down after several acid additions.

    PH won’t reduce

I have had a PH of 8.0-8.2- (based on my Taylor test kit) for 3 days. I have treated with acid per the pool math app, and the levels have not come down. I was using 31.45% that I bought from Home Depot early this week. Is it possible I have gotten a bad acid, or that I’m doing something wrong.
