Reasonable patio size to surround 20' x 30' inground pool?

Just a note to add that you won't ever be sorry you kept the pool full size. I've never wished the pool were smaller. Your yard looks to be plenty big, so I say make the overall rectangle bigger! Or strategically add more patio in a corner to make a sort of sitting area? Maybe someone with...

Reasonable patio size to surround 20' x 30' inground pool?

My experience is that you won't be sorry if you add all the patio you can! WIthin reason, of course. But it seems like people typically wish they'd put in more patio. I have a TON of patio and I still sometimes wish I had more!

If you were to build a new inground pool today advice.

Think hard about lights and be there when they place them. I really wanted my lights all on the house-side of the pool (so they don't shine into the house), but my PB recommended one in the middle of the opposite side and said I'd need to for the light to be where it needs to be. Then the...

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

Oh a syringe is a good idea. I use goggles -- don't have a swim mask, but that's probably a good idea! Part of me wants to cover up the area with one of my patches just in case -- it can't hurt, right?

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

It's reef pattern with no border. We love the color! I might look for a border i like when it's time to replace it. The reef pattern repeats, and the repeat is super obvious at the waterline! Otherwise, I love it. So the pool folks came. The tech had no idea what the spot was. None. He...

Do I need to buy jigs for a basketball goal?

I’m ready to pull the trigger on an SR Smith salt-friendly basketball goal. I started to buy bronze anchors, but then I realized...I think I already have plastic anchors in the concrete? And I don’t see that these are going anywhere....

    Accessories and must-haves?

Thanks for these links! I'd thought hard about polywood and then wondered if they'd be heavier than I wanted....plus the one I wanted doesn't seem to come with wheels? I was confused at first and didn't realize that was $800 for a set of SIX chairs! That's a great deal.

    Accessories and must-haves?

bmoreswim, what brand loungers do you have? Will you buy those again? 8 years is pretty great, and I think we might able to put them in storage for the winter (especially if they stack and aren't heavy). Thanks for this input...I'm struggling to figure out how many of these things we need.

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

It doesn't feel like much. There's a bump under it, like maybe there's a screw? I can't feel a tear in the vinyl though. The service folks are coming out tomorrow --- I texted them the photos above, too, and they're going to look at it. Pretty unhappy if I already have a rip in the vinyl...

    Accessories and must-haves?

I have also been selective in our accessories choices. I still haven't bought new patio furniture, and it's been well over a year! (We had stuff that works fine, but I'd like some chaise loungers....just can't figure out how many.) I think a place to sit and relax is nice (we have an outdoor...

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

In case you’d like context, I put a little highlight to show where the spot is. It’s by the middle raft on the left side of the pool.

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

OK, I wasn't able to get a shot from in the water, but the spot isn't too far from the surface. I did zoom these in. The spot is right in the middle of this photo. Interestingly, the spot was rounded when I first looked at it. I took a picture of it before I touched it: When I touched it...

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

Sorry, my post was confusing. I have two rust issues. First, the screws that hold on one of the returns must have been the wrong screws, as jimmythegreek suggests, because they're rusting. I told my building a month or more ago, but they haven't come out. They also said they'd replace the...

Rust spot on vinyl inground pool wall?

There's a small rust spot on the wall of my inground vinyl pool. The pool was installed last year. The screws holding one of the returns to the wall are rusting on one of the returns, on the other end of the pool. I can feel what may be a screw head behind the rust spot, but I don't see that...

    Choosing an Autocover color

Looking at your drawings, I think a black cover would really stand out...I'd go with something that more closely matches the surrounding deck or is lighter. Is your decking grey? I have a grey (light grey?) cover, and I sometimes wonder if I'd rather it were a bit darker, but I definitely...

My First SLAM Story -- low flow to SWCG, cloudy water, and old chlorine

OCLT results: FC 13.5 last night and 13 this morning. I think that means I passed? CC is 0. Water is clear. Yea!

My First SLAM Story -- low flow to SWCG, cloudy water, and old chlorine

My SLAM Story So the weather was miserable for more than a week and we didn't swim at all. I have an auto-cover on the pool, and the SWCG has been set to like 4% because my FC had been getting too high (maybe because I have low CYA?). FC had been hanging out around 3-5. Thanks to my new...

    Help!!! Cloudy with Dropping Chlorine

I'm also kind of skeptical of your SWCG. How old is it? It sounds to me like it's not keeping up, which could be contributing to your problems. It takes awhile for the SWCG to make the chlorine, so I keep liquid chlorine around and, after any heavy use of the pool, add a couple cups so that...

Automatic Pool cover - stored on the long side?

Ditto to bmoreswim’s question. Typically that side of your pool will see a lot of foot traffic and people tend to avoid walking on the cover housing lid...

    Which Design would you recommend!

I agree that I see problems with both. Not enough room to walk between steps and house in picture one, though I prefer the spa to the side instead of blocking view to the pool closer to the house. I can’t tell where your steps to pool are for picture 2? I can’t see detail very well on my phone...

    Pentair automation question

Awesome! OK, that was not at all intuitive, but I think I did it. I hadn't seen the part of the app where it let me set up new circuits. Weirdly, it only lets me set the GPM rate for the Skim High feature --- not RPM. I tried to figure out how to correlate them, but it doesn't seem...

    Pentair automation question

I have a pentair automation system (whatever the new one is -- Intellicenter?) and a variable speed pump. I don't love the interface at all, but it mostly gets the job done. Except: I've seen some people who are able to set their pump to go high-speed for an hour or so to get a good skim off...

What I see out my back door just past the pool

For whatever reason, they keep out! We have friends down the street who put up a fence and then a garden; I was shocked that the deer didn't jump the fence for the garden! So when we decided to put one up, we got EXACTLY the same fence, and it seems to work. One time my husband saw a deer...

What I see out my back door just past the pool

I love the deer even more now that our fence (which we got shortly before we put in the pool) keeps them from eating all my hostas! They are beautiful to look at.
