Cart filter constantly clogging w/ dead algae

We took the cover off the second week of May. We had planned on the end of April but I had a death in the family. My husband thought I was crazy for taking the cover off so early but now I will open even earlier. We did close the pool October 4th last year but with all the rain and the warm...

Cart filter constantly clogging w/ dead algae

This is the first year that we are opening the pool without emptying it. Last year we opened up a pool that was closed for 6 years. The previous home owners left the house and it was vacant along with the pool though it was covered with a mesh Loop loc cover. I did have a company come out and...

Cart filter constantly clogging w/ dead algae

Thank you. I might consider a different filter at the end of the year. I dont know much about sand or DE so I was scared. I installed the cartridge filter last July and if this is what I have to look forward to... no thanks.

Cart filter constantly clogging w/ dead algae

Okay. I'll keep the routine up unless I go insane. One more question for you... should I let the debris fall to the bottom and vacuum straight to the filter or keep trying to "stir it up." We have little floaties in the water and I say let them fall and vacuum. The husband wants to keep the...

Clean is 8/9 and it's been getting to 19 or 20 before I shut it down and clean.

Cart filter constantly clogging w/ dead algae

We opened our pool to a nice green swamp. It's our first time opening with usable water. Last year we emptied and cleaned to open it because we bought the house 2 years ago and inherited a pond! Here's my issue. The filter cart gets clogged every 20 to 30 min while we SLAM the heck out of the...

    Repair to Plaster

CORRECTION... the little tiny air bubbles were coming off the wall. We put shock in the water. We have since pumped all the water out and discovered two holes where the return pipes enter the pool. We are working on fixing those.

    Where Do I Start???

My dad took it to a place and it's nothing but rust. I don't mind purchasing a new pump but they seem to be cheaper everywhere than the store I went to. I still don't know how to fix the leak near the rope anchor. I'm buying EZ Patch tomorrow and will try that.

    Where Do I Start???

The previous owner abandonded the house because the mortgage was astronomical considering it's a 1300sq ft rancher. I live in MD where home prices tend to be high to begin with. We got it for half of what the previous owner did. According to the neighbor, she had it retiled and replastered in...

    Where Do I Start???

No luck EddieMc. The pump motor was shot, we went to buy one but the store wanted $550 . We also noticed a leak which seams to be right around the rope anchors. We shall move on to fixing that and getting the water level up. I already hate this pool lol.

    Repair to Plaster

Moved from Here I don't want to start another thread so I will ask here... What do I use to patch the plaster around the rope hook/achors? Water levels off there and I see tiny air bubbles. I know where the leak is but not sure what to use. Also, I'm acid washing and painting not sure if that...

    Where Do I Start???

EddieMc, I think we are headed down the road of replacing the pump and motor. I'd like to go saltwater since our neighbor has one... and she knows how it all works. We can call her for help lol. For now, I just didn't know where to start with cleaning and I had no idea what I was looking out...

New to TFP and pool ownership

I've been browsing and have learned so much. We were going to fill the pool in simply because neither my husband or myself knew anything about pools and it seemed like too much to learn. You all have made it less daunting.

    Where Do I Start???

I think the reason it's not working is the electric. It's shut off outside... but somewhere inside the house it is shut off too. There are switches downstairs that control unknown things. We are still trying to figure it all out. I'm not opposed to spending money on new equipment (that way we...

    Where Do I Start???

Good Morning tim5055. I finally got around to taking pictures of the equipment pad. I have no idea what I'm looking at.

    Where Do I Start???

Thanks tim5055. I will take pics of the equipment pad when I get home and I'll post them. I never thought to get the pump working before cleaning but I guess that would save us working on cleaning a pool that has potential to work lol.

New to TFP and pool ownership

Good Morning! I'm here to learn about pool care as I am a new homeowner with a pool... that has been covered for years and has no working parts. I have no clue what I'm doing with the pool so don't expect me to answer any questions lol. Moderator comment: Stick to welcome here Clean up thread...

    Where Do I Start???

In 02/2017 my husband and I purchased a foreclosure that sat vacant since late 2012. There is a concrete inground, peanut-shaped, pool in the back yard. It measures approximately 25'x15'x at it's widest. We cleared the overhanging branches and brush around the pool and now decided that it may be...
