Glass block spillover replace ideas?

Did you decide on what to do? I have the same exact issue, except I have a 8 glass block configuration. I already took out the top row which included the ones that were leaking, but I am going to take out the whole thing. I have been researching and finding a few places that will sell a cast...

    New Intelliflo VS pump.

Finally got around to installing the new pump today. Everything went pretty well. I love it. I'm going to be running the 1500 RPM setting probably around 12 hours a day or so. It's pulling 230 watts at 1500RPM and it very quiet. I'm excited to start saving some money. Thanks for all the...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

OK, still getting ready to install the pump...turns out the old and new pump inlets actually are about the same height. It's just that the existing pump is angled down towards the suction side, where the backend isn't resting on the support. Looks like whoever installed this setup years ago...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

OK, two 45s will have to do then. Going back to the previous joint takes me to a Jandy 3 way valve for the pool main drain, skimmer, and one of the spa main drains. So, way too much replumbing. :) I was just hoping there were pre-made S adapters rather than having to use 2 45s and 4 more...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. OK, quick question on a quick inspection of my setup. It appears the new pump inlet is about 1-2" inches higher than my old pump. The inlet pipe has a run of about a foot or so, so I won't be able to make up that inch difference without having too much angle in the...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. OK, sounds good. I was planning on using a primer, but if a product doesn't recommend it, I'm weary about going against manufacturer instructions. I think they say it's not needed for 2.5" and under or something. I just didn't want to mix something that wouldn't...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. I think that was the first I looked at that mentioned 'non-pressure' systems, which is why I asked (maybe the 'medium' cement is the detail I'm missing). Do you have any experience with Christy's red hot blue glue? Looks like this fits the bill well, not needing...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. OK, got my pump and ready to install possibly this weekend, if I round up all the supplies. Doing research at the moment, but if someone can help me out on a quick question, I would appreciate it. I already bought a couple unions at Home Depot the other day...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. I went ahead and ordered the new pump over the weekend. It's on sale now from poolsupplyworld for $839 shipped. For the unions, thanks for the reply. I will go ahead and just get standard unions from Home Depot or similar. I thought the Pentair unions would save...

Ready to install new IntelliFlo VS

Quick question for you guys that have installed this. I noticed in the manual that this model doesn't come with the Pentair union kit (#357603). Upon a quick search on the web, I couldn't find this part number being sold...poolsupplyworld has a Pentair union kit (different part number). Maybe...

    Intelliflo and Caretaker

Re: New Intelliflo VS pump. I couldn't find anything in the manual for the Caretaker system about whether it will let any flow through at pressures below the working pressure. If it does, then that's great. If it doesn't, then I think I will simply go the route of returning 100% to the spa...

    Intelliflo and Caretaker

I'm still learning about my new pool and the entire setup, plumbing, etc...but I plan on replacing my old 2 pump setup with this pump. (I made a thread in this forum about my second spa only pump breaking...most likely due to freeze damage.) However, today I realized something. All of the...

    New Intelliflo VS pump.

So, which site did you end up ordering from? I'm thinking about purchasing this as well to replace my old 2 pump setup.

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

Thanks for the replies guys. As far as plumbing, from what I can see, I think most everything is already setup to convert this to a single pump. The two pump setup now consists of the main pump pulling from the pool's skimmer and main drain and from the one of the spa drains (jandy valve to...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

Makes sense about the breakers being keyed that way. I guess freeze damage is a possibility...maybe the cover was just weak and it finally cracked at initial pressure load? I don't know...like you said, I can't test it now. But I'm still curious if I have a clog or stuck check valve now...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

Also, one last question. If this second pump wasn't tied into the first in some way, why are the breakers keyed so that the main filter pump needs to be on before the spa pump is turned on?

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

Just checked...yes, that 'bump' on the spa pump return is a check valve. King Brothers 2" check valve. Another side question for you guys... What are the two open pipes for? One is a 1.5-2" open pipe with a 90* bend at the top and one is a 4" open pipe, with a couple 90* bends pointing down...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

Thanks both for the replies. Yes, at first I was thinking that possibly shut/stuck jets on the hot tub or a clogged pressure line coming from the spa pump. I only gave the thought of the spa pump being plumbed back into the main pump after I saw that suction side jandy valve closed for that...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

More pics Closer view of 'booster' pump. Where is that pressure exit (pipe on left) going? Is it going to the pipe on the left to the inlet of the main pump? booster.jpg[/attachment:3srkuv04] View of the exit from filter to heater, etc. Another jandy valve...

OK, here are some pics to help out my explanations. This is the overall setup where you can see both pumps.overall.jpg[/attachment:3nu6wm6w] This is the 'main' pump (on the right). The skimmer inlet is on the right, the main drain is in the middle. The third line I...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

I can definitely add some pics for clarification. I know pictures are much easier to see than read a ton or wordy descriptions. I'll get some up later today. As far as the variable speed pumps, the intelliflo can be found online in the $800 range. Doing some quick math, I would save roughly...

Broke housing on spa pump (my mistake) - need options

OK, some brief background. I just moved into a new house and am now the first time onwer of a pool/spa. I've been reading up the last couple months and trying to learn as much about my setup as possible (I'm more of a DIY person...I always modify, tweak everything I own..it's a bit of a...
